In a few hours I will be getting my new too!
A bare eyed cockatoo to be exact.
I can't wait

I will post lots of pics once he gets here.
Hehe I am so excited

His name is Charlie (what the old owner called him). I am adopting him : )

I also find corella's very beautiful. And I have heard they make excellent companions.

He seems very scared atm, so I wont take any pics till he has settled in.

Well he will not step up onto my hand/branches/anything.
I have tried so hard to get him to step up but no luck instead he sits on his bottom and kind of places his feet in front of him.
There doesn't seem to have anything wrong with his feet though 1 nail does look a bit long which I will get trimmed.
He fell off his cage and I tried to get him back onto it.

He is so smart, at first he would bite me and try to attack me(when I tried to change his food). I gave him a treat every time he didn't try to bite me and he will now let me touch him and everything. He will now take food from my hand.

So any idea of how I can get him to step up?

Please give him some time to settle in... It's very scary for a bird to come to a new house with new people, new smells, new noises etc...

I will, its that it looked like he really wanted out of his cage. So I did give him some outside cage time (which it looked liked he loved). Then my cat came in and gave him a bit of a scare so he "glided of his cage".

Is it ok to give him outside cage time? When he is still settling in?
I just really don't liked keeping my fids in a cage for a long period of time.

I'm the same way. For an obviously nervous or scared parrot I say try your best to hold back. We have never given our birds settling in time lol were too excited to not hold and love on them let alone lock them in their cages all day. We want them to feel that this their home and theyes have free range and my desire tl hold them and cuddle or play or train is who I am as a person and they will either love me from the start, learn to love me or they just may never like that type personality. I'm an open book. They can be annoyed or happy lol. Just the same as I will be with them some days lol

I always give my birds 5 days so they could just try to adjust then I start training and everything. The reason I don't give them a week is that most of the birds I used to have are from breeders and they are BEGGING to get out LOL one of them jumped onto my arm while I was taking out dirty food dishes. I give a week to the birds I get from petshops.

He didn't seem to nervous or scared. He was actually pretty fine until my cat decided she would wonder in and say hello. My cat loves to talk to my alexandrines so she is use to just coming to my fids and meowing "talking" to them. Charlie was begging me this morning to let him out of his cage. I feel so bad leaving him in his cage.

So I should leave him in his cage for the next few days?
