Our dogs had a very bloody fight a few days ago. Needless to say, the instigator has now gone to live with another family. Our U2 has been VERY aggressive and screeming since then. The dog who was injured had sutures/staples and drain tubes due to her injuries. Could the smell of blood be causing the stress in our U2? She is actually reaching out and grabbing our fingers and pulling them inside her cage to bite when we try to calm her down. She is eating and drinking the same as always, her manner has gone from friendly and sweet to mean overnight. She was not in the same room as the dogs during the fight. Any thoughts on what we can do or what might be her problem?

I doubt the dogfight could affect your bird much. But, as I mentioned in another post...Spring is coming! Hormones are kicking in, and aggression is on the rise.

Thanks Bill, She is actually much calmer this morning. Hopefully this is just an attention seeking attitude she's trying out. On top of the dog fight, my Dad passed away last month and I've been out of town quite a bit helping my Mom adjust to her loss. My husband hasn't had any problems with Cleo while I've been gone. She's quiet with him and loving. I was afraid that the problem with the dogs had taken her to the breaking point as this is when she began with being aggressive. Hopefully things will get back to normal here soon. In the meantime, we plan to keep loving her. .....
Due to our dogs injury and the smell of blood in the air (nothing seems to be taking that away, as Toto's injuries are still weeping) I wondered if it was causing Cleo to stress .

I'm sure the chaos of the event could upset your bird, but, these guys are not carnivores, so, I don't think the smell of blood would affect her too much. Also, she'd react to your emotional condition. So, try to keep "her world" as normal & simple as possible. She'll be okay.
