On Thursday, I went to Mt Dandenong, Grants Picnic Ground :) It is one of the few places in Melbourne where wild birds will fly to you and eat from your hand. There is sulphur crested cockatoo, galah, Australian king parrot, crimson rosella, corella, lories and lorikeets, kookaburra, magpie, and other native birds and parrots.

I mainly took photos of the cockatoo, but also took a few photos of the rosellas and king parrot :)

Beautiful, wow the sulphur crested in those picture look like none I have ever seen so much more elegant, maybe it is the fact they are in the wild not in a cage or on a playgym:p.

So cool! It must be amazing to see them in the wild. Love the shredded tree lol

I'd be afraid to let a wild cockatoo eat out of my hand D: are people ever bitten?

This is one of my favorite places to be in the world, the thick temperate rainforests around the Dandenong Ranges. There's such an amazing collection of beautiful plants and animals everywhere that you look!

Have you been up to the 1,000 steps on the Kokoda trail? It's really close to Grants Picnic Ground.

Would you ever consider taking Ozzie with you?
I know there are many dangers to consider, but Birdy and I have been up and down there a dozen times or so and we loved every moment! :)

Great photos, thanks for sharing :)
I grew up in the Yarra Valley but I've never been here before, will definitely be putting it on my list of things to do next time I'm in the area though :)
