Hi! Yesterday I brought home a 17 yo male U2 whom we have dubbed Tauntaun (cookie if you get the reference, lol!).

Anyway, he was at a sanctuary for about 8 years but a home had to be found for him and he came to the place I worked. When he first came there his feathers were perfect but then he plucked one of his legs and damaged some blood feathers on his belly. I started giving him Avicalm and after a few days most of the feathers have grown back on his leg, and I smeared a clotter/painkiller on the damaged feathers on his belly. He has been here at home since 7 pm last night and while he was reallllllyyyyyy loud yesterday, today e seems mostly to sit in his cage with his face floofed out contentedly. I see maybe two little feathers on the bottom of his cage.

Tips to keep things going smoothly? Last night he started screaming incessanty once we walked away from him, so we compleyely ignored him and took him out only when he had been silent for a few minutes. Once it started to get dark he got quiet.

And as I'm typing this it sounds like he is calling some more. Anyway, just looking do any helpful advice. I've worked with a lot of U2s but never had one at home before. :)

Oh I forgot to mention I also have some avivera (aloe water basically) that I have been spritzing on him, making sure to get his picked area, hoping that will moisturize and keep him from being irritated and making it worse. He does not mind bein sprayed, or me thoroughly inspecting the area.
