Hello everyone, i have a 20-something year old M2 named Malcolm and he recently got a cut on his leg, it was doing well until he decided to pick at it. He has never had any plucking issues (surprisingly enough) and is the quietest animal in my household. A little background information, we rescued him 2 years ago out of a hoarding situation where he was housed with 80 other birds. He was on a wild bird seed diet and had been attacked multiply times by other birds that escaped and got into his cage. Due to his poor nutrition for years and years he has retinal degeneration and does not see well, and also sat on the same single perch in his toyless cage, due to this he walks funny. He does not like to be handled and is very fearful, he will not step up on anything but will let me towel him to put him from cage to perch and back again. I would like to get him a collar so I can keep him away from the wound that he has, but am unsure of the type that will keep him away from his leg but allow him the most comfort. And also where i can purchase them. Any insight would be wonderful, i don't want him to get used to self-mutilation, he has made it this far without it! :(

Best place to search is an avian vet. Some cones can only be purchased through them.

You could do an E-collar upside down so he can easily move around the cage. You could make a tube collar using plumbers tubing. There are even avian collars.

May require using two collars even.
