It's been a week since we brought Chili home from the airport :D he's been doing great! I've been pretty busy lately- he's a busy little guy!! He just loves to check everything out, tear paper, throw his wiffle ball around, forage in paper bags, paper cups, and hang out by the screen door looking outside. He also sounds like he's been picking up some words! But they're still in the mumble stage and not quite perfected yet lol I usually hear "Hi!" along with chirps, clicks, and honks.

In the time that it took me to finish posting the pictures above, Chili climbed down from his cage and along the baby gate to the couch, onto my chest and chewed off the plastic thingy on my sweatshirt string lol

Yes! It's been a lot of fun! I think there's a huge difference between zons and galahs- but I only have my experience with Jackie for comparison. He was more reserved and just loved to hang out- perch potato lol Chili is all over the place- playing, exploring, curious about EVERYTHING, wants to go EVERYWHERE. There's also the difference in attitudes lol

Sounds like Chili was just the thing to warm your heart with! :) And what fun Chili is having!!!! :D

Saw a galah at our recent bird club meeting.... kind of felt bad for the poor bird because the owner didn't know how to handle him! But alas... I don't think the owner would have listened, considering the person we had there doing a talk about parrot training!

Shirre... does the cutting-mat pic above suggest you are... a QUILTER???

Is anyone else in our forum a quilting tragic? Or a sewer/sewist? I've been looking for parrot-flavoured fabric lately, with not much luck. I have gobs of owl-fabric, which I'm hoarding against the day I make my mega-massive owl quilt. I have lots of projects on the go and would be happy to discuss quilting stuff by PM.

My name is Betrisher and I am a quilter. :D

Ohmygoodness he's such a blast- him and my son are gonna be serious buds lol chili always wants to see what he's doing and follow him, but I have to keep chili out of the "squish & hit" zone!

We went to the vet yesterday for his check-up and chili did SO well!! The vet also said sometimes galahs can get out of control- but isn't that to be said about most parrots???? Lol I told the her a bit about Jackie- she was REALLY surprised he was a Tucuman! She hardly ever sees them.

Better late than never! Lol he is VERY VERY mischievous and nosey!! I need to buy some ceiling protectors lol

Yesssss.... Lol! You found me out!!
Hi. My name's Shirre and I'm a craft-o-holic. :D

In fact, I just finished a memory quilt yesterday! The binding is always the most boring and dreaded part lol

I do a lot of different crafts- quilting, sewing, crochet, knit, furniture refinishing, or whatever else comes along lol I'm very big on making my own stuff if I can.

Go to www.fabricdepot.com -it's this HUMONGOUS GIGANTIC warehouse in Oregon FULL of any fabric.

Oho! Yes, I have found you out! This is good - projects can be talked about and admired. :D

How come you don't enjoy binding? It's my favourite part: the quilt's nearly finished and it's just an hour or so of relaxing stitching to put that last touch on. I do the double-fold binding and finish it by hand as I really love the rhythm of hand-sewing. Most of my quilts to date have been appliqué ones and my Major UFO is a king-sized dresden plate featuring strawberry prints. I mean to hand-quilt it and one day, I will. Meanwhile, it's sitting, basted, in a tub, waiting... waiting... LOL!

I also like crochet, basic knitting, all sorts of home refurbishment and leatherwork. As you say, I just *love* making stuff from scratch. I made my daughter's formal gown for her end-of school dinner dance and that was the best fun!

For a while, I would give the Beaks my offcuts to play with. Then, one day Madge got a thread wrapped around her toe. It took me *ages* to get hold of her and cut it off! I have learned my lesson and no longer give the birds fabric. (NB. I cut off the thread, not the toe...)
