We had ourselves convinced that Chili was a boy- the eyes are brown, the vet said she thought boy, and just acts feisty. But nope! She's a girl lol.

We were hoping for a girl from the beginning, but would've been happy either way. I'm excited we finally found out though! I have my wittle baby girl ❤❤❤

When hubby saw how I spelled her name he said "why'd you spell it c-h-i-l-i instead of c-h-i-l-l-y???"
Because she's got a spicy attitude like a chili pepper! 😝

I'm going to get Mango sexed just for the hell of it. I love him/her either way because of guys sweetness.

Something endeared me with theus little half pint Amazon. By the way I think he is going to be a good talker.

I think all Galahs should be girls, that are cute and pink.

Saw nothing, they just wanted address, name, state, zip code, & what kits you wanted. I dunno, seemed like a good idea. Maybe they charge you for the Actual process of doing the disease/DNA stuff?? It has a pricing list.

Avian Biotech in the UK will send out free testing kits (blood tube/swab/blood card, depending on what you need), and then you pay for whichever tests you want them to do when you send the stuff back to them for testing

That's a good question- I was wondering the same thing since her eyes are BROWN...not a speck of red at all. I guess we'll have to wait a while to find out lol

I've read that the eyes aren't a 100% indicator. Apparently, if what I've read is true, practically all with reddish/lighter brown eyes are female, but some females actually have dark eyes so while dark eyes means that it's *probably* a male, it might actually be a female. If that makes sense

So I'd be inclined to DNA just to be sure, especially with dark eyes, and especially especially if you don't know the age (as I think female's eyes don't turn light until adult?). Our dark eyes Ducorps did indeed turn out to be male, but it's good to know for sure

(Well, I say for sure, but DNA isn't 100% either, at least not unless you can guarantee the purity of the sample. But it's near enough, anyway

)

We did have her DNA'd...that's what this post is about- we got her gender certificate in the mail. And I do know her hatch date so age isn't a question either.

The only issue was that before we got her DNA results we were basing gender off eye color- which I know can be wrong with juveniles, and we were obviously wrong thinking she was a he.

I've used Zoogen before... you print out the DNA testing form, fill it out and send it in. No need to wait for a kit to arrive!
