All you Goffin Cockatoo lovers or owners, I have a question.

Lilo - Female Green Cheek Conure ~ Pal - male cockatiel ~ Pheobe - female cockatiel
So my family are looking for a birdy and we were wondering about an Goffin Cockatoo. We don't want a loud bird. How loud are they? My moms boss has one and she is very loud! But Hollywood (the bird) is kept in her cage 24/7 because the lady has no time and her dogs need more time! :/So are they loud or moderate? Are they quiet when they are out? Any answers would be wonderful! Thanks! :)

All cockatoo are loud, including goffins. They aren't loud 24/7, but they have their moments.

I'd Google some videos. I would bet YouTube has some. That way you can judge for yourself.

When my FIL passed away we inherited his goffins, way too loud for me so we placed him in a home with a family whose goffin had just passed away.

Ok I will do that, I hope my dad will say yes about them! I could go for any amount of noise except for the hyacinth but I love it when they just talk and talk! :)

I now have 2 goffins. I disagree with them being loud unless you want pretty much a silent bird. Now if you rescue one they can have bad habits such as screaming. My goffins will talk or make quiet noise except for about 15 mins at bedtime and can be loud (for a goffin). They are (I'm told and agree) the quietest cockatoo.

Oh, I agree that they are the quietest cockatoo, but when you compare them to other birds they are definitely loud. And there's no way to guarantee that you'll get one that's loud for 15 minutes or an hour or a couple hours. I still think they make great pets, but people should be aware of what they're getting into.

We have a Goffin and he does get loud, but that's usually first thing in the morning to call for us. He also is loud in the evening when it's bed time. But for the most part he's quite, and keeps himself pretty entertained by himself.

Silus screams don't last very long, He's a wonderful bird!!!!!!!! Talks up a storm!!

Maybe if your able to get them as a baby [and socialize them ]. My guy is a rehome [and boy does he scream ] .Poor guy is a very insecure bird . Look them up on Utube [that's what they sound like].I don't mind birds being loud [I have 15] but he has temper tantrums .Want a quiet bigger bird [a rosebreasted Too] Ive had 2 of them.

Ok its a no but what about budgies? I heard that they carry daises and that they die within a year. Is this true, will it kill my baby?

It depends where you get your budgie from, if cared for properly and healthy if you get them from reputable breeders they do rather well. I have two that we rescued like 5 years ago, they're healthy as they can be.

Budgies can be amazing if well cared for. I have known many budgies who died young because of inadequate care. Eating seeds, never seeing a vet, and living in filth will make any bird live a shorter life.

goffin making noise lol

MikeyTN: I don't know much about tiels but are they cuddly like do they like to be scratched?

Copperarabian: That is so cute! I love that! :D So if I feed them fruits and veggies, pellets and seed than they can live longer ok I will do that. Of course!

Will a budgie make Lilo sic if in the same room?

I love it too, such a happy bird jumping around on that couch LOL

Any new bird has the potential to make Lilo sick, no matter if you brought home a $20 bird or a $1,000. They will both need a new bird check up to insure they are disease free.

Yes Cockatiels can be cuddly and want scratches and being petted. I personally prefer females over males on cockatiels as females stays friendlier over males. But males can be just as good if raised properly! I have several sweet males.

Ok thanks I will consider a teil! No mater what bird I get I WILL quarantine them. The teil I had was mean and scared because he was my foster birdy, his first home had beaten his cage and yelled at him when he sang! so I don't know what they're like. I would love to get to know them!
