These guys meet us most mornings when I drop my kids off at school. There is also a tree which is usually full of Rainbow Lorikeets. It reminds me that Australia really is "The Lucky Country"!
The funny thing is that most people just take it for granted because we see them so often! In fact I got some strange looks when I was taking this photo this morning!
It depends where you are, here, too. I get crows in my backyard, but you'll find cockies around and about if you go looking. I used to have a kookaburra where I used to live, but that had bushland opposite.
I was waiting for that one We get mixed flocks of corellas and galahs here, sacred kingfishers, 3 species of dove (they like our backyard because we don't have dogs) although I found a headless dove on the lawn only yesterday- suspect cats. Plus honeyeaters, peewits etc.
Very nice but here in southwestern Pennsylvania we have beautiful bird species too like indigo buntings, eastern bluebirds, cardinals, herons, tons of ducks and geese, owls, rose breasted grosbeaks, so many different birds. Lucky is as lucky does
yeah I get all the grat birds but those bloody crows are eating all my newly planted vegies and all the flower off the strawberrys. The sit on top of the bird netting work out ways to get in and out. I have caught a few in the fox trap but always let them go. I am starting to think maybe I shouldn't have.
