Awesome!!!

I would try to get some different perches other than the dowel perches- they're not very good for their feet :( look for natural wood perches, rope perches, cement, pedi perch, etc....make sure they're at least 1-1.5 inch diameter...basically you don't want their nails to touch when wrapped around the perch.

Ditto what Shirre said (getwozzy).

GREAT cage you got for your baby!!!! And some really neat toys. :)

What I'm going to say next, please, I mean it in THE nicest way possible, ok? The toy that has the little bells attached to it, please use caution with it. We just recently had a member lose a bird due to one of those bells. :( The clappers aren't attached very strongly. I don't know how "beaky" Galahs are, but the member whom I spoke of lost a Senegal. Again, I don't mean to criticize, I only wish to make you aware of "potential" hazard.

Chili can be very beaky sometimes, but yes- those bells on that toy wouldn't stand a chance with her

that member was me. I can't begin to tell you how I ache for my Safari.
As far as I can tell, he chewed the INSIDE of a bell. I had removed the clapper a long time ago, but he managed to remove some metal pieces from inside.
He woke up one morning past the point of no return.:( he died later that night at the vets....still waiting on the toxicology report.

so please do me a favour so I can sleep tonight, kindly remove those bells, and any metal that comes with them.....either that or return the toy, and get one with all blocks or wood.

the red ball with the bell inside concerns me as well, not just the bell, the red rubberized material;that would be toxic to birds should he decide to chew the little bits off and digest them.

Chains are dangerous as well, they can potentially get their beaks caught in them( I may be wrong with the size of a galah beak, and depending on the size of chain as well) either wrap them up with vet wrap,or place wooden blocks over them.

make sure you do up all the clasps!!, birds can manipulate, unscrew, and remove them and swallow in seconds.
my Jardine did that, only luckily she didn't swallow it, I found it on the bottom of her cage:eek:

the thicker larger ones are better suited IMO for a Galah.

please keep your precious baby safe!!and thank you for sharing this with us!!

How exciting!!! Hopefully you'll be able to get some sleep hahha ;) can't wait to see pictures of your new baby!!! Did you decide on a name yet?

Are you picking up your baby from the breeder or from the airport? Either way, just remember- don't take her out of her crate/cage until you get home....you don't want any accidents to happen en route.

Morning, today is the day :D I've decided on Nigel :) I'm picking him up from a breeder it's only about 30 - 40 minutes away. Is there any way I can keep the trip as peaceful as I can for him ?

When I bring him home what should I do? Place him in the cage and wait for him to relax? How long should I wait until I start handling him myself?
