What has your cocky destroyed?

Someone bumped Olly's cage a little too close to my housemates dining chair...This is the result!

Thankfully my housemate was okay with it haha, won't be making that mistake again...

Chibi often flys up onto the mantle, picks something up with her foot/beak and then just drops it off the edge and cocks her head and looks at you to see how you react...very cheeky!

So what has your destroyed?

Our umbrella cockatoo destroyed wood trim, couch, drapery, rugs, towels, shirts, etc. . .

We didn't get mad at him though, because it's not his fault, but ours for leaving him in the line of sight of something he couldn't resist chewing on.

You would walk away for two seconds, and he would invariably be chewing on something.

My little tiel's beak is much smaller, so he cannot destroy as much, mostly paper goods.

That's life if you're going to be living with a parrot, especially one with a huge beak. Something you don't want to get destroyed will probably end up getting destroyed, not to mention all the poop stains you get on rugs and other things. They can be hard to clean up.

Dominic has eaten almost the whole architrave off the picture window near his cage (we don't mind, as we're putting an aluminium window in some time soon). He has also unpicked the stitching on my husband's wallet so that now it's bursting at the seams (not with money, sadly). He's eaten one side off a tissue box that lives on a little table in the kitchen. I didn't have the heart to stop him, he was having so much fun making confetti. Oh, and he's eaten the knob off my roll-top breadbox too and will probably start on the roll-top very soon.

When i was younger mum had a galah, he used to enjoy haing out on the desk while i gamed, i would go get something to eat or go do something and often came back to a keyboard missing a few keys. Also took a great liking to the rubber on the mouse scroll wheel.

Ours liked the rubber that lined part of our shower door. He chewed that up to bits while he would sit on it and we took showers. He loved being in a humid bathroom though, which was good for his feathers.

Oh and he chewed apart two travel carriers. Do not get plastic travel carriers for your large parrot. They will be destroyed in five seconds.

Good of friend of mine thought it would be fine to leave his cockatoo out while getting his shopping. He had had the bird years and was so used to him being okay around the place.

Turns out he destroyed half of his dining room door, his favourite place to sit.

I warned him it's so dangerous to keep them out, especially when you consider electrical etc.

I "wood" say it was lesson learned

Alice is pretty good when it comes to not destroying things, but computer keyboards are definitely her weakness. Not only is it very satisfying pulling the keys off, but she gets to play a fun game where she makes off with them and I have to try to catch her and extract the key. My new, extremely expensive work computer has keys that don't easily come off, and when they do they don't go back on. I guess I'll get used to only having three cursors, but still...

Chili has made progress on the wood trim around the window *sigh* because she likes to get up on the curtain rod and chew the trim lol and hubby's special ps3 controller I bought him that looks like an Xbox controller- she's chewed the buttons off and then knocked it off the couch which then the baseboard heater melted the joystick button

thankfully we were home and found it before a fire started

She's also destroyed the plastic zipper on my sweatshirt... And hubby's Adidas flip flops- she likes the black and white stripes....I can't think of anything else at the moment. Lol

I know this is specifically about cockies, but I have to comment that I like to wear a certain kind of t-shirt that has a two-button placket at the front. Of course, the Beaks just love snapping the buttons off and racing away with them while I trail after them bellowing 'Don't swallow it, give it to Mummy!' Now, out of six such t-shirts, I have just one left that still has buttons on it. When I wear that t-shirt, I can't get the Beaks off me, because they know there are exactly two buttons available for them to pluck off. Any of the other t-shirts - no interest. All the buttons on those are long gone. To bring this back on topic, the worst think Dominic has done (IMHO) is vandalising poor Madge's tail. He got hold of it in his beak and tugged on it. Hard! Now, it's two inches shorter than it should be. Snif!

My cockatiel has starting destroying the keys on my laptop! If he's sitting on my shoulder and I'm the computer he'll jump onto the keypad and it only takes him a couple of seconds to rip a key off!

Ivory has chewed on a remote, a phone cover, keyboards, rings and my accounting homework....she actually grabbed it and ran lol She also likes to try to chew on my textbooks. Oh and today she kept trying to take all the wrapping paper when my mother was wrapping presents.

The most recent casualty was a quilt I was using to cover Popeye's cage. He very precisely removed the embroidered flowers. He obviously needs a more appropriate cage cover.

My girl ate my brand-new computer mouse. She managed to pull one of the buttons almost out, I've tried pulling it apart to see if I can get it back where it's supposed to be, but I'm not hopeful.

Lets see 2 Playstation 3 remotes, a Samsung Note 2, 3 smart phone cases, TV remotes, about 100 of my wife's hair ties, unknown amount of headphone cables, chewed holes through the drywall to the studs,chewed through the top of the couch, the frame around closet doors, any pencil that can be seen, probably 20 pairs of flip flops, and 100s of shoe laces, video game cases, books, and a bunch of other stuff I can't even think of right now lol. Oh and this has been since July of last year when we brought our first Goffin home.

One day, I let my galah out of her cage, intending to come straight back and get her for our "visit" together.

I forgot that I'd done this and came back later to find the door open, and no bird. I called her name and received no answer. Sure that the dog had eaten her, I was frantic until I saw her sitting quietly up on top of the filing cabinet....

Fast forward to several months later and I finally get around to making an effort to restore some kind of order to the squalid hovel in which I live. I grab the basket which is on the top of the filing cabinet, look inside and see a computer keyboard that she's completely dismembered, pulled most of the keys off, all nicely peppered with bits of basket which she had also obviously had a good time chomping on.

I still don't really care because if the dog had eaten her I'd never have forgiven myself.
