My soon to be new Goffin's Cockatoo

I have been looking for the right bird for me for quite some time now. I went from a grey to a rosebreasted cockatoo and then I found the sweetest cockatoo...a goffin. He is about 7 months old. which I am fine with.DNA sexed male. he was born in may. He is the last one from last year that the breeder had and has gotten lots of attention and is very sweet. I was wanting a cuddly bird...and I think I found him. I gave my deposit today and will be picking him up on Wednesday.
I had been in Texas but knew we would be moving. Originally thought to Idaho. Then we found this great place in Alabama. The breeder is actually in Florida about 2 1/2 hours away. So really not to bad. She is small scale. Breeds only goffins and Blue and gold Macaws.I have done tons of research on them and lots of others as well.I decided against the rose breasted mainly because I could not find a breeder close enough and did not want to ship. The Grey I decided against because i wanted a bird that would bond to both me and my husband and most people I had spoken with said they usually bond with one or the other. and again there were no breeders that were near me. There were plenty in petstores But I won't get anything from a pet store. They almost always feed seeds cause its cheaper for them but not healthy for the birds. So I looked honestly for over 4 months I have been looking. Finally found the one. His name is Sydney.attaching the only 2 pics I have of him. To me he has just the sweetest face.

It is the hardest thing to have to wait:(
Have you got his cage set up? That will help to pass the time (a little:))

Actually the breeder has a cage I am buying. She had bought a bulk rate bunch of cages...Anything I was seeing in that size was 350.00 or more she is selling this corner cage that is 60" high by 40 wide by 32 deep for 250.00. I am very happy with that price and style. had planned on a corner cage all along. So it worked out. But I did do some shopping for toys and some fleece material to make a little triangle bed for him with.Trying to make the time go by.

I absolutely love him. Trying to figure out why I waited so long to get one.He is the sweetest bird ever.I am basically alone most of the day and having him makes the day go by.He is just a doll. I wanted a lovable bird and oh boy does he fit that description.I know I have only had him a day but he has been a joy to have around. We were playing this morning and I was tickling under his wings...he would run across the couch and then back for more. his last trip back he comes running grabs my glasses and takes off. He was a riot.

Congratulations, Sidney is darling! Cute name! I love Goffins, I don't have one of my own but the two I know are mischievous little clowns. Stealing your glasses already, you are going to have a lot of fun with him!!!

I had seen one a long time ago in a pet store no less that was just the silliest thing I ever saw and even being in a pet store he was as sweet as pie. at the time i was not financially able to buy him. But obviously never forgot him.I was really afraid at first just because it is a cockatoo. But I am home all day. I have nothing but time.So here he is and I know I made the right choice.Luckily he has no idea how spoiled he already is...I backed him birdie bread today then went to the store and ....came home with a "few "toys...just 150.00 worth.I needed some for back ups ....LOL and I didn't have any foot toys...and I didn't like the perches that came with the cage. Those are my excuses ....LOL
