As you know I will be bringing my goffin home on Wednesday..and can't wait.I have found it very difficult to find much info about what they are like as adults. Are they like an umbrella but in a smaller body or are they something like a gallah or something else completely different.my situation is a bit different. I have all the time in the world to spend with my new baby. I have had smaller birds in the past...Cockatiels and conures mostly. This will also be the only bird in the house.I have no plans of getting any others so he will have all of my attention all the time. But I would still like to know what I should expect as he gets older and more mature. lets face it all babies are sweet.then ...they grow up..just like kids...they hit those teen years. I want to be as prepared as possible so I can handle him the proper way. So that he stays a sweet boy. Thanks in advance for any info links etc you can give me

I can't help much seeing as mine is only 8 months right now but excited to read the posts on this one. One thing is for certain…I will be spending $$$ on toys to keep up with my goffin's curious (and destructive) nature!!

A friend of mine has a female Goffins who is around six (I think). She is very social and outgoing, extremely active...loves to explore things with her beak, and see how they can be taken apart! Nothing is safe from her. :p She's a total clown and very loveable. She will also go to anybody. She is very emotionally sensitive though, and plucks/barbers her feathers every time there is any amount of stress or a change in environment (also, she plucks because of hormones/sexual frustration sometimes). She is a sweet bird, but very much a handful.

Thank you so much. That helps. It seems very hard to find much in the way of personal experience info. A basic care sheet sure and half of them are wrong.giving seeds as what their diet should consist of and saying they live 25-30 years on some I saw...I am really aiming for keeping him as well rounded as I can giving him plenty of different types of toys as well as giving him as much out of cage time as I can and exposing him to many different experiences taking him in stores and everywhere I can safely take him.I want him to be as happy as I can possibly make him and not just now but forever.I already have a plan for when I get too old to care for him.I have really tried to think of everything. have waited all my life to be able to have a bird like this,I plan to make it a happy experience for both me and Sydney

Over here they are known as corellas. I can't help a huge amount but I have met a couple. They are great talkers and seem to have that cockatoo confidence! They seemed pretty laid back though. Their nest box was destroyed too =p
