So if anyone else has seen my other thread about the abused bare eyed boy I have found a couple cages I like. I was wondering if there is such a thing as too big for a boy with issues. He is so hyperactive I thought a big cage where he could burn off some energy would be a good idea. My mother suggested a bird with his issues might not like a huge cage. I really want him to be comfortable with spending time in his cage and don't want to have him out half the day like my mom does with Ivory. Ivory hates being cage bound but Folger seemed pretty comfortable in his just hyperactive. Ivory needs to be out but I'm hoping Folger is comfortable staying in and playing by himself. So far he seems to like me the most and I need him to be comfortable in a cage so I can go to school and work without him freaking on me. My mother wants him to be buddy buddy with Ivory but we aren't going to live in the same house forever and don't want any bonding to occur between them. Folger could easily hurt himself from such a loss whenever I decide to move out (really afford to buy my own land). I do plan to buy enough land for my family to move onto with me but they still wouldn't live in the same house in the end. Some of this is obviously a guessing game! So throw some opinions about which cage everyone likes at me:D

This one is my favorite.:54:No its not big not at all:54:

A smaller corner cage.

I just wouldn't attach the play top at first for the next two until I trust him higher up. They are the same but one is just larger than the other.

I have 2 of the cages you posted in the first link. I have Dexter, my YCA in one, and the 2 new zons we got yesterday in the other. They are great cages, and Dex loves him. The new guys are also exploring and have more room then their previous home. I am not sure how much room a cockatoo that size needs, but these are great cages:)

So happy you are now cage shopping!!!

Okay, for the record, I am not hoping Folger and Ivory become buddy buddy.... Ivory is afraid of her own shadow, I don't think she'll ever be buddy buddy to anyone who isn't human!!! I would love for them to at least be able to be out of the cage in the same room without big drama... We have that now with the different birds, everyone has an area that is kinda their hangout... Ivory on her cage or following me around to see what food might be available to steal... the green cheeks on a large boing hanging near the sliding doors.... Loki snuggled in Victoria's hood or with whomever he gets dropped on (social butterfly of the group)... and the cockatiels on the back of the couch and table top. The different species don't really interact much, but everyone was out this evening and irony of it all... the actual bird playstand did not have a single visitor!!

I do agree with her that Folger will probably not need the out time that Ivory does, she is very much a velcro type bird tho she has become much more confident about hanging out on her cage. But, if he does want to be out when she's not home, he will need to at least be civil being in the room with Ivory.

Just the mother putting in her two cents :) I still think the cage is monster huge, but will let others have their input if a cage can be too big for a bird with some major issues (the rescue label him psychotic)... but in a lovable psycho kind way :)

Shoo Shoo...I already knew your opinion mother dearest. Its not monster huge...just a little big. Monster huge would be me getting the double macaw cage and don't think I didn't look at it...

There are times like this that I think it is a wise decision you've made not to have human children.... :)

Hey MangieSun can you post a pic of your bare eyed in his cage? We are no longer moving next month and I need to get a smaller cage to fit where I currently live. 40X30 is the biggest I can go. I just want to see the space of the 36X26 relative to a bare eyes size!

The bottom with the large wheels was what was added on after purchase to make it easier to move, btw.

And...we had to remove the door to get it in the room we needed it in. Just something to keep in mind if you have a doorway to squeeze by.

I've always loved the look of the corner cages, but isn't it a pain if you use newspaper in the tray? Seems awkward to fold it the right shape.

Thanks MangieSun! I knew that wasn't a small cage but the pictures online always made me think they were smaller for some reason. We actually found another corner cage that is smaller than the one I picked but larger than the second corner cage I listed. So either a 40X30 playtop cage, a 42X30 corner cage, or the same one as MangieSun.

The new corner choice...
Kapoho Kave II Corner Bird Cage, Corner Bird Cages, Macaw Bird Cages, Bird Cages

I actually have to rearrange my small butt room to fit another cage. Get rid of the chair and desk and move the bookcase to another spot... Though I mean the desk and chair only ever had laundry and my ihome on it :54: So my room will be made up of a 3 stacker cage, a 2 stacker cage, Folgers cage, a bed, horse tack thrown around and a couple bookcases...sounds like an accurate reflection of my interests!:D

I never thought of having to fold the paper.... I think the trays are straight though just at an angle?
