The newest addition at the rescue a Moluccan! I'm babysitting again....I know feel sorry for me:p

This one has some cage issues since his previous owners boyfriend had some mental problems and would shake his cage all the time. So he has fear of hands and such. He let me touch his head twice and I spent probably an hour just talking to him. He started bouncing when I would act all surprised, he started saying hello, and copying a couple of the sounds I was making:D I had my arm sticking in the cage like another perch and eventually at the end he got up enough courage to touch my arm before backing away. And well I had enough courage not to jump and run away when that big beak came close:11: I did hold my breath wondering if I was about to lose some flesh:rolleyes:

I've also played with Kelly the amazon and hide/seek(still in her cage) with Scarlet the scarlet macaw! Such hardship I've had today:p

Holy smokes! What a big gorgeous bird! It's amazing what you accomplish with birds, Victoria. Absolutely awesome! I'd like to see a video of the peekaboo, haha!

And my oh my... such a difficult life you live being surrounded by birds all day. I don't know how anyone could do it  :D

Thanks Dino! I'm not sure I did much this time since I haven't talked to Jeanne about exactly how sacred he was really of others. But she wanted me to talk to him while I was here to see how he would respond to me.

Now who wants to feed all the birds in the house.... do cages? No one....

I ain't to good to clean cages! Give me a set of ear plugs and I can sing/whistle/shout with the best of them!

What a handome bird. Rescues are like puzzles. You'll put together little pieces of their history, but there is that piece one can never find. Unless you go looking in corners and you'll be surprised at what you will find!

Well thats rare to see a cockatoo (especially those big ones) come into a shelter with such pristine plumage. I mean, that bird looks really well cared for, shame he ended up in a shelter:(

But lucky you who got to interact with the handsome boy:D

You're so lucky. I wish there was a rescue near me. I would love to volunteer.

What a beautiful 'too! Such hardship you endure, Victoria! Haha! It really does seem you have a way with the avian set, as so many seem to just take to you. (Folger, as a big, shining example! Lol)

I don't know the whole story but from what little I've heard the owner really loved the bird and thought it would be better to rehome him because of the boyfriend. Personally I would have beat the boyfriend the first time he shook my birds cage haha But just looking at him you have to think he was well taken care of but maybe he is one of those rare non crazy moluccans who don't pluck themselves.... He didn't make one loud sound while I was there. Now Boomer the Moluccan, long time resident at the rescue, was being a loud mouth! Screaming at the the top of his lungs then saying whatta doin? Lol

Kelly the amazon was being a real suck up! I took him out and scratched his head and he turned it sideways, fluffed his feathers and started kind of purring haha. I think he is trying to sucker me into adopting him the sneaky guy. And turns out he is really old too...never would have guessed looking at him!

The unfortunate news is that my car died on the way home! And of course we just sold our back up car.... Luckily my mom works for a towing company and they towed it for free and are going to take a look at it to see what went wrong since the owner is a mechanic guy. They are doing a kind of cook out at the business tomorrow so a bunch of the guys will probably be messing with it trying to figure it out. It was running and I probably could have limped it home but didn't want to risk it in the rain today. I love my car I hate when it's in the shop:(
