Folger had a good day!

Folger has two new tail feathers coming in and I believe there are officially two flight feathers that have made it past the blood feather stage!! Hopefully the tail ones make it past the blood feather stage too

So Folger had a pretty good day. He was out for at least 4 hours without breaking a single feather. He lost a feather but it was intact and more like a molting feather. He had a couple freak outs where he ran away like a chicken but he was more confident and relaxed today. He actually calmed so much sitting on my shoulder while I was playing on the computer that he actually stopped shaking! He almost shakes non stop when out these days from nerves. He also had a relaxed time on the stand actually eating and just observing the world without thinking he was going to die in the next minute.

My mother also gave him a bath today and he was pressing his face into my cheek when I came to get him back like he had the worst time ever. So he is mad at her not me

All of Folgers scabs are healed up and the newish collar seems to be harder to get around then the first one. So we are going to measure it and see if we can have a friends mother replicate the collar for me

Hey I'd be having a good day if I were a bird on that BEAUTIFUL Java tree!!

We really love that one too! It is actually shaped so well that they can't hit other branches easily when they poop The tree was actually on craigslist so long that they had to reduce the asking price for it:52: I don't really understand since they didn't have it priced high the first time!

Wow, gorgeous stand (and birds)! With all of that love, he'll keep having better and better days!

You scored with that stand then. Nice the way it's shaped. That's the only bad thing I can see about those. You never know what it's going to be shaped like if you order them new online since they're natural trees.

We definitely scored with both the java stands we have right now I thought the ones you ordered online were supposed to be the same ones pictured?

I still want one more java stand in my room since its big enough for more then one birdie play area. We also have wood that we bought to make Folger a stand and just haven't done it yet. I also have a couple hanging things I want to get up but haven't done that yet either....have to get on top of these things!

I've seen some sites with a general picture, not one of each tree like it should be. I can't get one anytime soon here, but they sure are nice.

Good for Folger growing in a few new feathers Maybe his new 650gram "buddy" will help him keep that plucking in check Just remember, it took the poor little guy years to reach this point, so it's going to take a while to get him back to how he should be (a happy, healthy bird). It seems like he is well on his way, and really, I think a friend, or at least another bird he can tolerate, will be good for him. Just look at those 2, I'm so shocked they aren't eating each other Thats a good sign

Thanks for posting photos of Folger and his friend, his life has improved so much, now if he could just catch up, and I think he's trying to. Hope he gets better every day, Victoria.

I'm so jealous of that java tree, but so happy Folger has it to enjoy.

Yes it is one of the ones you can get online The shelter will be doing a raffle for a new Java Tree some time soon... I'll be sure to tell you guys when they do it

Kiwi I'm not sure if they would be so nice if they got closer to each other but they both seem to mind their own business. Hopefully they can just hang out near each other all the time! Jeanne reminded me of the same exact thing recently! She said it was years of people screwing him up so it'll take me a long time to get him to really come around.

I love seeing updates of your progress with Folger, Victoria. He's come so far under your care! Nice!
