We decided to name him Merlin after all. :)

So far he's been settling in well. He's no longer crying for formula and I was able to get him to try some beans, rice, and peas. The breeder was feeding him Zupreem natural and I've been mixing it 50/50 with Harrison's high potency. Right away he began only eating the Harrisons and leaving the Zupreem. I'm so proud! It's never been that easy before. lol

At first he had a little trouble getting around his cage, but he's getting better. He's been trying out all of his new toys-- even the foraging toys! Merlin loves to hang out with us on the couch, watch tv, and get scritches. He's very calm and quiet-- just a few chirps and honks. My two little birds make a lot more noise than he does! lol.

The breeder trimmed his wings even though I requested that he remain flighted. I'm not too happy about that. Luckily it's a pretty light trim-- just 3 primaries on each wing-- so he can still fly pretty well and even get some lift. After he goes through his first big molt, I'll be keeping him flighted.

He rolled over on his back yesterday while playing with a foot toy! It was SO CUTE! Unfortunately I wasn't able to get a photo of it....

What a sweet baby. He's making me have urges (which I am beating down with a hammer and my checkbook) :)

I like the name Merlin for him :) So precious! Good to hear he's doing well and eating what's good for him!

Galahs always look so fluffy. Makes me wanna cuddle, haha. Also, they've got sort of a squeaky-hinge whistle. It's much more pleasant on the ear than say a sulphur crested, which isn't for the faint of heart. Though I've never been up close to a galah when I've heard one, so it might be just as bad.

Btw, that green 'kong thing' with stuff inside; does Merlin use it? I saw one at the pet store for $20 bucks, and was like good day, sir. But I'd like to add some enrichment, puzzle-type toys for him to play with, and it looks somewhat safer than what I've seen. I'm always worried he'll tangle his foot in some of these things.

Nexus, I got that ball thing that I put nuts in for our mac on Amazon for less than $10.

He is gorgeous and I like his name. I'm falling in love with Galahs, they are beautiful. Can we see the "lion face", lol?

Merlin is a great name for a beautiful boy. I am also having a major hankering for a Galah:)
Shhh, don't tell my hubby:)

I agree, it's not as bad as some of the other 'toos. I love the happy galah chirps and squeals. They're adorable.

He does! Actually, it seems to be his favorite. I add new materials to it everyday and he has a great time tearing it all up.

Hello, and welcome... it might be worth you starting a new thread on this but generally it's risky to assume you can put two birds in the same cage and assume they'll get on - you can never predict the outcome of adding a new bird, and it's possible for birds to do each other serious injury if they end up hating each other. General practice for introducing a second bird is seperate cages and closely supervised 'out' time together, relaxing things if they get on over a period of time. Occasionally you might get to a point where they can share a cage but I wouldn't expect it. If you want a second bird for yourself that's a bit different but I wouldn't do it if the reasoning is another bird to keep Harvey company.
