DSC02977.jpgDSC02984.jpgDSC02985.jpgYou wouldn't think we've only had Chickadee for a couple of days, she has settled in really well. She met Shadow yesterday under very close supervision and they both were very relaxed and curious about each other, in fact Shadow has been really chatty and animated ever since.

In true Cocky style she loves attention, if you say "Cocky want a scratch" she'll tuck her head down so you can scritch the area on her back where she has pucked. She has nipped a few times, although nothing serious, when she does we'll walk away and stop playing and immediately she'll start saying "Hello Cocky". Anyway I'm sure I'll have lots of stories to tell over the coming weeks

Thank you so much for sharing pics. some of them I cannot see.

Really? I had to repost the first lot because they did not come through. There's an album in my profile, hopefully you can see them there

She's so cute, and she really does look like she settled in well. She looks like she's having a lot of fun just hanging out with you. I bet you can't wait until she feathers out all the way, she'll be even prettier.

May I ask, how did hubby react to the new addition? ;)

She's very clever, she knew who she had to impress and because she's such a character he has fallen in love with her. He didn't even fuss when I bought a cage that takes up half of the lounge room.

Wow, I bet she's really happy to have so much room. That's great!

I wish I could buy my cockatiels a bigger cage, and maybe stick a few more 'tiels in ther to keep them company. ;)

Mel, Chickadee is one lucky little bird, to have you as a guardian. Your hubby could not help falling in love with her, who wouldn't.
I loved the pic's in your album, awesome.
I wonder what Shadow was trying to say :) wish we understood their language.
Sorry Mel, I have to correct you...... you mentioned
I'm sure I'll have lots of stories to tell over the coming weeks.......
Coming weeks, next couple of good years LoL

So true Ant. Shadow was "chatting" yesterday in her own language and said "Hello" which she sometimes does, immediately Chicka answered with "Hello". As for my hubby I came home yesterday and he was asleep with her perched on top of him. :D

Chickadee sure has made herself at home AND stolen your hubby
How did you get them to "bond", just talking to each other, so quickly?
Must be magical to see and hear them bonding.
Need some advise before Zazo arrives in 9 days time.
;)

We put them on opposite sides on top of Chicka cage on day 1, they were curious in each other but wouldn't get close. Day 2 Chicka got too close, Shadow growled at her and chased her away. Now they will be near each other but not too close.... I'm hoping over time they will be friends but not expecting too much. I'm just happy they chat and I think Shadow likes that there is another feathered friend in the house.

Shadow and I probably aren't bonded as closely as you and Mishka so I don't have the same jealousy issues. I do make sure Shadow gets heaps of attention and try not to give Chicka more - which can be hard when she is so affectionate. I have noticed Shadow is a lot sweeter to everyone else in the house now that there's competition ;).
