They are starting to come out with the warm weather I see them everywhere at the moment eating all the fresh grass seed. It's so exciting when they pick your yard

Ah, yes... Dominic says they're Dweezil and Deborah, distant cousins of his from the far north. He's pleased to hear they dropped in to give his regards to Bundii as he asked them to do.

I don't think I've ever seen just two galahs before, around here we always get big flocks of about 10-20, maybe with a couple of corellas thrown in for luck

Pretty cockies.

I went down to Freo the other week, and I heard this racket, looked up and there were 2 rainbow lorikeets up there in a grapevine. When I see cockies or lorikeets or birds like that, I always wonder if they were pets who got loose, or genuinely wild.

It must be a little weird as a parrot owner to live in an area where parrots are native and have wild populations. I mean, here in the US (with few exceptions where theres feral populations) if you see a parrot, it's a lost pet or was released deliberately but cannot care for itself. Over there in AU, you have flocks of thousands of perfectly wild cockatoos and the lories and don't some areas also have eclectus? At least an escaped pet would have a fighting chance there though, could just join up with a wild flock, and I'm sure in time, would learn and revert to nature. Here, it's a sure death if the bird isn't found

Yes, and it's a bit strange seeing "your" bird all over the place. There's that spark of recognition which you have to shake yourself out of.

It's also weird that you guys can own birds native to your area. Here in the US, unless there are really special circumstances, and even then, it's illegl to have in your possession any bird native to your lands.

It isn't open slather, some you aren't allowed, some you need a licence for, and some you can just have without a special licence.

Wow, I can only dream about seeing a sight like that out of my front window...how incredible that must be. I saw a couple of Magpies and some geese today, but that just does not have the same excitement factor

I enjoy watching the wild birds from my porch, but the ones I see aren't nearly as fun and interesting as yours. I'm very jealous!

Crows aren't dirty. They are extremely smart and serve an important purpose in the ecosystem.

I'd much rather watch cockatoos, but I know there are people who consider them pests.

They did not even seem to care that I was there. Just continued there grazing.

Bundii thanks Dommie for the regards and send some back with a group of lorikeets that just flew over making a hell of a racquet.

Your right, I hardly ever just see two either but maybe they found a secret spot and did not want to share.

. My mum and dad have usually a flick of where cockies visit each day and there is always 2 corellas with them. There can be up to 50-60 white cockies in the yard but always the 2 corellas.

Nope Bundii was not interested at all. She was far too busy trying to play on the PS4 with her dad. She was having a whale of a time, her dad on the other hand was glad I was home. They also were not making enough noise for her.
