TO MY HUSBAND:eek:...LOL. I walked out of the living room last night for not even one minute...when I walked back in there stood hubby with my Sweet Pea on his arm!!! He said he didn't really expect her to step up, he didn't even have a treat to give her..lol. I tried yet again and she did put one foot on my arm...lol...hey, it's something:):09:

Yaayyy Peanut! That's wonderful progress, of course she had to let your husband be the first. :) She'll be stepping up for you a lot now that she knows her new human perches are trustworthy.

Go Peanut! So glad she's coming out of her shell. I'm sure things will just keep getting better and better with her:D

Thanks everyone! I think hubby actually felt bad that she stepped up to him first..lol. That's ok...now I at least know that she knows how. Scott, I don't think she will have shoulder privileges...or at least not for a long long time...lol. That's too big of a beak too close to my eyes...lol. Right now the only one allowed on my shoulder is Cisco. Maybe someday Sassy and Peanut will be able to, but not yet.

Popeye was seldom allowed out of his cage in his previous homes, but he was allowed to run up arms to shoulders. It took a while to retrain him. Just recently I've started letting him on my shoulder, but he usually gets too excited, so his rare privileges don't last long.
I think he's much happier on my hand or forearm, I know I am.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
You really have to trust a bird to allow its presence on the shoulder!!

All of my hand-fed parrots have shoulder privileges EXCEPT for the male Citron. Gandalf can be wildly unpredictable with little overt messaging like Amazons, and he has a large and potentially dangerous beak. The Goffins and even my female Eclectus are so much sweeter. The only time they have tried to "discipline" me on the face is a gentle beak-gesture to the bridge of my nose. It has never escalated and we have deep bonds, so I can live with that!
