Today we went to my mom's because the power lines were being moved so we didn't have power...I took chili with me because she was having a bit of a fit this morning in the semi-darkness, and I couldn't have her blinds open because when the wind picks up the branches swaying around freaks her out

When we arrived I took chili out of her travel cage and let her get adjusted for a minute, and then she was immediately stolen away by my mother lol

My mom dearly loves chili and would hold her all day if she could. So she wouldn't let chili go back to me at all the whole time we were there...

My grandma was also there, who got to meet Chili for the first time... She was a bit nervous because she's never held a parrot before, but she was very excited and fascinated with chili- she took lots of pictures of chili, and of course I sent her these ones too

Where do you think you're going???

Oh jeese someone help me...

What's happening?!? (Just hold still grandma!)

All that way just to inspect your glasses

Ok, back to the hand... This is nice. Lol

Grandma offered chili her glasses to play with and I said NOOOOO, not unless you want all the plastic bits to disappear in no time flat hahaha

So everyone had a great time, and Chili's ready for a nap now. :)

Aww, looks like Chili loved her time with her Grandma and Great Grandma! The look on your Grandma's face when Chili started up was priceless:)

I know, i was laughing while watching the whole thing lol she really wanted her glasses, but discovered buttons along the way lol

She also got to meet my other grandma- she held chili for a quick minute and she tried to steal her gold watch  such a thief. Lol

I was naughty since my mom was hogging chili- I gave her a nutriberry to eat...which made a HUGE mess all over my poor mom and her couch :p

LOVE you photos, and LOVE the commentary even more!! :D

It's so awesome that sweet Chili is so outgoing and such a social butterfly. I know your grandmom will remember moments like this forever. :)

Perhaps it's time for your mom to consider her own bird??? :54:

Oh yes, I text her the photos and she was off texting all of her friends about her encounter lol

She showed me a picture from her zoo adventure the other day- they have rainbow lorikeets there that you can feed, and they'll hang all over you ...that was her only other parrot experience, so she was thrilled to have an up close and personal visit with chili lol

I don't think my mom would get a bird- she doesn't mind babysitting, but that's about it.

When we were at the family campout earlier this month, we kept having to explain to people why couldn't stay the night- all of our birds at home, and chili gets 3 meals a day- that was surprising to EVERYONE lol so when my other grandma met her today she was like ohhhhhhh so THIS is Chili!!! She's GORGEOUS!!!

I concur! Chili IS gorgeous!

Loved all of those pics, Shirre! Especially the ones with your grandmother! Even through just these photos, she gives off such a sweet vibe. I get the feeling she's a sweetheart in real life!

Thank you Stephen :)

You know, she is a sweetheart- but don't let that fool you....she's a typical 'too with plenty of mischief packed in that cute little body hahaha

Today was the first day that she let my mom give her head scritches though....I was basically Chili's translator- translating her body language and vocals for my curious mother.

She tried to get chili to sit on her other hand but she lowered her head and shoved it towards her fingers...my mom was like what is she doing??? I said she wants you to pet her! So she melted and ooooo-ed and awwww-ed because she felt so privileged at their new milestone and gave her quite the scritching session. "I never knew a bird could be loved like this..."

Hahahahahaha! Shirre, while I most definitely think Chile is very much a sweetheart, I was actually referring to your grandmother! Hahaha!

Awww. Love your description of your mother's experience with Chili.

A lot of non-parronts don't know how close and interactive a bond with a parrot can be.

LOLOLOLOL!!!! Oh wow- I totally read that wrong somehow lol oops!! But yes- my grandma is a sweetheart too! :)

It is amazing to see someone's eyes light up when they experience something so new and so amazing like that- to us, it's normal every day interactions, but like you said- to non-parronts, they don't know how much a parrot can truly love someone.

It was very cool to see chili interact with everyone on different levels. We definitely need to get out more hahha

Chili certainly took the opportunity to act like a princess and make everyone smile. I love the sweet photos of your mom and grandmom. Thanks for sharing Chili's special day.

Wow, it does. You have to give her long colored streamers.

I wish Chili and Dom could meet! I reckon she'd teach him a whole lot in no time flat. What a sweet birdie she is, Shirre. I was cuddling Dom like that the other day and moved too quickly for him - now I've got munch-hunx taken out of the back of my hand! It must be lovely to be able to handle Chili without having to think about her state of mind all the time. :)
