I bought a goffins cockatoo named Chloe and I've had her for 8 months. she is 2 yrs old and im having trouble getting her on a correct diet, she was fed anything....fries, chicken wings, pizza, etc. i immediately got her on a normal diet of zupreem (which she hates still) mixwd with parrot food, and fruits and veggies every day and she still doesn't really eat them. so i tried giving her whole fruit and she just tears them to pieces and then there's a big pile on the bottom of her cage. how long should it take for her to accept broccoli and apples and everything??

Looks like you need to do some research with your bird.....mine eat Harrison's high potency as backup, except my p'let & he's on Zupreem fruit flavored, but they really eat fresh fruit & veggies for the majority of their diet.....

As to what mine liked, I would try a piece of something with each.....just a piece, not a whole bowl full.....I'd try it fresh & steamed & ended up deciding on what the majority liked.....with their favorites ending up as chunks of fresh pineapple, apple slices, steamed sweet potato, mashed potato, steamed broccoli, stewed tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, bell peppers, peas, cooked navy & white beans, steamed cut asparagus pieces.....they are like me, prefer some crunchiness to their veggies rather than being cooked so soft that they're mushy.....

You usually can't just switch to new foods & have them chow down and in my case, I usually eat with all my birds, eating the things I want them to eat...sometimes their tastes develop to new things rather quickly, other times it has taken up to a year..... good luck.....

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
If Chloe was hand-fed, you can get very interactive when introducing new foods to Goffins. When preparing fresh fruits/veggies, one or more are on my shoulders and will watch me eat for breakfast precisely what's on their menu.

A few foods they enjoy: Sweet potatoes, yams, apple, chunks of orange, garbanzo beans, lima beans, green peas, banana, whole unsweetened cranberries, cantaloupe/melon flesh and seeds, 100% whole wheat or whole green spiral noodles, bits of a good quality whole-grain bread, string cheese. (given once per week) They all love corn on the cob, but it's given in smaller quantities than they'd like!! A few of them like endamame pods, squash, kidney beans, cooked carrots, etc. Don't be discouraged, I offer them all of the above and more with each feeding; some birds will suddenly decide to try a piece rather than toss it to the bottom of the cage.

Zupreem fruit pellets are mixed with a high-quality seed (no sunflower) on their "off days." BTW, once the fruits/veggies are served, the pellets and seeds are removed for the duration. During cooler temps, the fruits/veggies are left out all day, while in the summer the limit is about 8 hours.
