Chili's first time begging for a bath!

My little family has been sick these last few days, and today I finally got around to buying a new cool-mist humidifier....I figured it might help since we're all congested.

Well. What I didn't count on was discovering Chili's preferred method of bathing lol

I had the humidifier set up in our bedroom over by her stand but shooting vapor in the opposite direction... All of a sudden she started FREAKING out and I thought "I swear she's acting like she wants to take a bath". Which is a new thing because she HATES baths. She can't take showers with us because our well water is terrible, she won't bathe in a dish, and she hates when I spray her.

So I figured, might as well give it a try! It's a cool mist humidifier and there's nothing added to the water, so it's just vaporized water- so I held her on my hand and stuck her in the mist....oh man!!! She had a FABULOUS time lol

The pictures look blurry but that's just the mist

Who knew?! Lol

How cute! I love the third pic especially :). Does the mist come out warm? If you leave her there long enough, would she get pretty wet?

Re: An interesting discovery lol

No, it's a cool mist humidifier so the vapor is kind of cold- but not too cold. I didn't want to get a warm mist one because apparently the water "boils" ...and boiling water and curious toddlers don't mix lol

I had her in the mist for a minute and her feathers started getting kinda wet...I'm sure if she would've stayed in the mist for a few minutes she'd get wet.

I'm thinking of trying to find some other misting device I can set up just for her bath time since that's what she likes lol

Here are some more pics and a video- she's really excited about the humidifier lol

Tonight was literally the FIRST time I've ever seen her go into "bath mode"

And the video...

Wow I think I need one just for this purpose lol! My birds hate (the necessary evil) baths. Looks pretty convenient ;)

Shirre, I love Chili's photos and the video! Thanks for sharing Chili's discovery, hopefully it will work for other reluctant bathers.

Thank you everyone [emoji4]

Taw- well we all know parrots go by the rule "what's mine is mine and what's yours is mine" lol I didn't expect her to enjoy it so much....a humidifier of all things! Lol

Julie- I saw some "personal" size humidifiers too...they're small ones that you could use at your desk or something- half the cost too...you could see if your boys would like it!

Stephen- aww thank you! We're trying- the little guy feels the worst out of all of us :( it's hard when they're so little and feel so crappy.

Allee- I wonder if anyone else will try it? I would like to know if it would convert any other reluctant bathers! She's been bathing again today lol which is amazing- usually bath time is a struggle.

Amanda- thank you! :) I really enjoy seeing her happy like this.

Here's another bath time picture from today- it looks like she's smiling! Lol

Love the last pic; her personality shines through! Chili is a beautiful Galah!!

Great idea, will try this for water-phobic birds.

I'd love to get the "personal sized" humidifier, but if the boys didn't like it, what would I do with it... I don't like it too humid and don't need it other than for a bird bath LOL.

LOVE that last pic.. That's great!!

Chili is very adorable and seems to enjoy that mist quite a bit!!! Perhaps this is a good method for those folks' parrot babies who hates bathing..... :)

I'm going to check into getting one of these for Zilla. Vet says she will need a humidifier on occasion for the rest of her life and she is NOT impressed with the full on showers. Loves the blow dryer after the shower, but just doesn't enjoy the sink or the shower, and is terrified of a spray bottle so spray bottle misting is out of the question.
