Over the last few weeks Chicka has really started to bond closely with me. Yesterday she climbed onto my arm crouched down, nestled her head into me, started quivering and doing this nibbly-panting thing!!! Does this sound like a mating thing - we haven't had her DNA'd we call her a she because she has the reddish iris's

Definitely sexual behavior. My male U2 pants heavily but actually more females are know to pant. Try not an provide dark, enclosed areas for her and no petting below the head. Hopefully it will pass in a few weeks.

It is interesting to watch their mating behavior. I did look at a few videos on Youtube to see the differences in the birds. It was interesting from the standpoint of what I may expect when Rosie is old enough.

Yep, that's what it sounds like. Mine are beginning to make their fall nest but not in earnest, not just yet, just a half-hearted chewing of the walls right at one corner of the room.

Thanks for the feedback. Having not lived with a mature parrot before I'd only read about mating behaviour. She did it again after I logged off last night. Thanks for the advise GC, I knew about the nesting box but not the petting below the head... which I do all the time!! It's nice to know she loves me LoL
