Hello 'Too Folks!

The forums have been a huge help regarding food/feeding advice, but something I can't seem to find is advice on portion size. When you put "fresh veggies" in your birds' bowls, how much do you put? Three green beans or 10? Two 1" hunks of banana or a whole banana? (I'm trying to go heavier on the veggie after reading that too much fruit can be a bad thing...but think in terms of both.)

My two (a CAG and a U2) get fed twice a day. In the morning, they get a mix of seed & pellets (maybe 1/2 cup total), a few large nuts in the shell (e.g., 2 almonds, 1 walnut for the U2, 3-5 pistachios in the shell), and some fresh food. The fresh might be 3-5 green beans, 1-2 sections of tangerine, 1-2 tablespoons of green peas, and 1-2 inches of corn on the cob.

This lasts them all day (so I pick foods that don't break down quickly), and then they get 1/2 cup of warmed food--veggies, legumes, sometimes with chicken or egg added) at night.

Seems like 75% of the food is either left in the bowl or thrown in various directions ;) , but they are both happy, weight is fine, and they *are* eating what they're served.

I know this would vary according to bird and feeding habits, but I feel like I'm wasting *a lot* of food.

How much (in quantity) do you feed your fids?

Any advice to share?
