Hello I have become a Mum to a rescue Galah ...baby being fed farex atm....not sure what age he/she is but rescuer has had her for 3 weeks ..mended her broken leg and wing ...and she is such a sweetie ..loves cuddles and being held...eats 4 times a days and is starting to nibble on a small amount of seed....she still has grey on her chest and brown eyes...Rescuer thinks by her personality ..with her experience with birds ..that it is a girl...so I am calling her Rosie...
I read up that you can try her with grated carrots and other vegies but am wondering when to try this as I don't want to rush her...:)

There are no specific times per-se.....when birds are ready to wean themselves, they will eat less and less of their formula, until they refuse hand feeding all together.....if you keep a weight log, like some parronts, chicks tend to lose a few ounces when they wean themselves, so don't get upset if/when that happens.

You can try shredded foods at any time after they show an interest in grownup foods, but you will notice a greater interest in whole foods and a moving away from their formula foods, until they pretty much refuse it all together.....

Good luck.....

Can you post a picture? The amount of grey she has in her pink feathers will give us an idea of an age range- the more grey, the younger.

Do you know what happened to her leg and wing?? Poor baby :(

They wean around 13-15 weeks but its hard to know if the real age is unknown. But, they will let you know as well. Keep offering feedings and when they are ready to wean they will decline a feed and then you can take away one feeding till your down to 1 feeding a day. Make sure at least one feeding is before bed though and keep offering different veggies, fruits, seeds, and things for them to try.
