OK, here are a couple pictures of my newly adopted Goffin's 'Too...Jonesy.

sunday it will be a week since he moved in,and is coming along just fine.
Very sociable..talks up a storm..screeches a little, but not as bad as I thought he would.

I took him and Amy to the doc's yesterday for a general check-up. Both birdies are in very good health. Jonesy weighed in at 279g's < is that ok for a Goffin's?> his heart and lungs sounded strong and clear she said.
Amy weighed in at 507g's..the doc called her CHUBBY! :green:
They both eat seed and the vet said I ought to try and convert them to pellets,so I bought a bag and have putting a few in their bowls at a time.
Jonesy will pick one up,twirle it in his beak, then drop it,where Amy will just fling it away.

Jonesy has a plucking issue < you will see how bad in the pics> and his doc says there isen't much that can be done about it,no magic spray or medication. He was plucking at his previous human, due to stress from an Umbrella, plus the move to here must be on his mind also.
He is very social tho. Loves his "out" time, running, hopping, talking etc.
He reluctantly gets on my hand then runs up my arm to my shoulder, screeching and talking and just carrying on. He seems to like my son, james,he can scratch his head and pet him.

OK lets see if I can post these pictures, notice the poor guy's bald chest! jim

Jonesy is a super cutie!! Thanks so much for sharing!! :D

LOL @ Amy being chubby. Yup, that's one...ahem... BIG BF Amazon for sure. :54:

As for Goffins weight, they range from 200-350g, so Jonesy is right there in that range. :)

Here's a great link, with awesome information on how to convert your babies to a healthier diet:

And here's a link for Jonesy, too. ;)

Congratulations, Jim! Jonesy is very handsome!

If you've ruled out all medical conditions, there's a good chance Jonesy's plucking can be turned around now that his environment has changed. Jonesy doesn't look like a long time plucker to me.

Fresh vegetables and some fruit added to his diet could improve feather condition too.

Wouldn't it be great if there was magic sprays are meds to instantly stop plucking? You may find something interesting in this link.

Best of luck to you and Jonesy!

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Jonesy is a beauty indeed! Typical Goffins expression of alertness and (usually) friendliness.

Hope the provided links will help improve his diet and reduce plucking.

A few foods most of my Goffins love: garbanzo beans, apple, peas, cooked spiral whole-wheat noodles, pomegranate seeds, melon seeds, endamame, small bits of string cheese (not more than once weekly) and corn on the cob. The latter is not especially nutritious but may help spur interest in something different)

Thank you everyone for your replies.

Jonesy and Amy do eat "good" food. I have seen him eating peas and corn niblets.
Amy eats EVERYTHING for veggies and fruit <'nanas and grapes are most yummy to her>she taught Smokey, who was a wild caught grey, the fun on munching on anything and everything..chicken bones,noodles,pizza..red grapes were her Fav and a chunk of 'nana.

Both Amy and Smokes loved scrambled eggs with small pieces of cheese, and veggies mixed in. Smokeys fav fruit was pineapple chunks. Her eyes would get as large as dimes and that little beak went a mile a minute slurping down the juice.

Jonesy does eat and sample different stuff,so I know in time he'll come around.
Thanks again for your comments. I never had a 'too and this guy is so great..love him already :D
