Me and my wife went for a drive to Royal National Park, just south of Sydney and stopped by at a cafe there. We brought Yoshi, my male SI Eclectus along with us(as we do on most of our drives).

I bought a packet of hot chips and sat down on a park bench to eat and before I knew it a flock of Cockatoo's landed on the same bench and I don't know if they felt more comfortable because I had Yoshi on my shoulder but these birds were obviously extremely human friendly and had no problem diving into my hot chips.

I mean normally even human friendly birds are a little cautious but these birds had absolutely no fear of me and literally just went for the chips lol. I mean they weren't aggressive towards me and in fact were actually quite friendly(as long as they got the chips I presume).

I am not one to normally feed wild birds with human(and unhealthy) food but since I didn't really have a say in the matter I thought I might as well enjoy it haha.

Pictures below! be on the lookout for my terrified eclectus who eventually jumped off once one of the cockatoos flew onto my shoulder(he jumped off me and landed on a duck that was nearby which was hilarious also)

Thanks so much for sharing! :D

haha initially I was a little nervous when they all landed on the bench and at one point i left the bench cause it literally felt like I was being mugged of my chips the way they went for it. But yeh they were too pretty and I was willing to risk getting bitten to get up and close with them so I went back for the chips! Thankfully they were so friendly.

My wife though who was the one taking pictures was happy taking pictures and keeping her distance lol.

Hilarious! So glad you were able to get some photos. I did notice your terrified Eclectus - he must have been wondering what the heck was going on!

Was the "gang" noisy?

Uhmm kinda they were all making this really cute vocalization that sounded like a little baby saying Gah! Gah! Gah! and me and my wife absolutely loved it.

Yoshi was really quiet on the way back home lol! which is very unusual for him as he usually doesn't shut the hell up.

How nice of you to share your snack with a flock of beautiful Toos, hahaha, not that you had much choice. I don't blame your wife or your Ekkie for being a bit shy. Great photos, thanks for sharing.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
What an awesome experience most of us can only dream of! Interestingly they weren't aggressive toward Yoshi despite overwhelming numbers. They clearly perceived the bond between you and an avian.

Wow! What a crazy experience. I guess even the wild ones are junk food junkies:D I bet they saw Yoshi confidently/trustingly sitting on your shoulder and figured out you were 'bird friendly'.

You'd be surprised how tame they can be when there are french fries involved... :D

Sort of like Pizza night...

I am in awe! I can't even imagine experiencing that, wow!
Makes being surrounded by pigeons or ducks at the park seem quite tame by comparison.
Thank you so much for sharing:)

Thank for sharing. From my experience birds sure do like fries, pizza crust, etc. Your terrified bird was probably wondering what was going on. These cockatoos are like raccoons in bird form.

Well, I'm not showing Alice those photos.

"Ooh, those birds have chips"

"Hang on, you said I couldn't have chips. You said they were bad for me and only humans could eat them"

"You're mean"
