Rocky has been making our ears bleed all weekend with incessant squawking, and this is in spite of way more attention than his fair share. Unless he's actually sitting on my lap, he's been yelling and yelling and yelling. This is our first spring with a 'too, so is that what's behind it? The other parrots have their yelling spells in the morning and late afternoon, but then they're done. They don't just sit around squawking.

I don't know. He isn't testy or bitey the way my Quaker, Clyde, is when he's hormonal. He's just very needy, and wants to be held All. The. Time. If I'm not holding him and he knows I'm in the house, he yells for me. I'm hoping it's just the time change and the weather changing and so on and he'll settle down. SOON!

I hate to be the barer of bad news but you may be looking at six weeks of Too madness. Earplugs or intense training or both. If you reward him in any way for screaming, you'll literally never hear the end of it.

Poppy has learned it's not okay to sit on her perch and scream until she's out of breath, she plays her guitar, her piano and sings instead. Distractions, lots and lots of distractions.

Poppy says Rocky needs a monkey! :)

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Roudy behavior seems to come and go. All we can do attempt the almost impossible - behavior modification!

I was really worried when we brought Poppy home, we were told she was a chronic screamer, she lost her first two homes for screaming. It wasn't nearly as bad as we thought it would be. She just needed some gentle training and behavior modification. I may regret saying this. Her guitar is on the floor of her cage, that's the very first time she's ever done that.

Siobhan, I know you're nuts about Rocky and you're a great parront, I have no doubt you and Rocky will figure it out.

I keep telling him it's not cute and nobody wants to hear it but he will not listen to reason. LOL I made him watch a video of himself screaming so he'd understand how silly he looks. Nope. His reaction was more along the lines of "Wow, look at THAT handsome fellow and how well he can scream! Maybe I need more practice!" Our poor dog Jack hides in the bathroom and gives me pleading looks. The small parrots shriek along in sympathy. Yikes.

I am happy that The Cockatoo Man's behavior didn't affect Amys sweet, lovable nature..The poor girl also got so ticked off at Jones'ys screaming constantly, she would yell out SHUT UP! < I wonder where she picked that up from? :54:>
I was also told it was hormonal, and "it would pass"..uh-huh :11:
Well...it never did! lol.

Good luck with Rocky!

All he has to do is sigh and snuggle up and lay his head on my shoulder and all is forgiven INSTANTLY. LOL He is the most affectionate creature EVER.
