At home: Clover- Alexandrine, Sage- Moustache parakeet
At work: Rio- Hyacinth macaw, Major- Major Mitchell's cockatoo, Fruit Loop- Keel-billed toucan, Bayju- Black palm cockatoo
Bayju was in a total show boat mood today and I was loving it. I mentioned his unique call in another thread and finally got a good video of him doing it. AND he started drumming, which is a territorial display unique to BP2s thought to be used to attract a mate. I love this bird so stinkin' much.
Please ignore the background commentary. That would be my co-worker...

Ah I'm in love!! Love the conducting!

Does he leave as much dust behind as the white guys?

Ha! He does look like a little conductor!

He does not. The physical, mental and behavioral differences between him and the white toos are amazing.

Funny story...
After I filmed these, I let Bayju hang out on my shoulder while I was cleaning stuff up. I got approached by some guy who asked why I wasn't afraid of the demon bird and how he broke his beak (it's not, just a typical BP2 beak). I have a very sarcastic sense of humor, so a dozen snarky responses came to mind, but I decided to be polite. Well I learned today that he works with my husband! LOL he came into work today and said, "Hey, I think I met your wife and that weird demon bird you like." I told Nick to tell him to watch some National Geographic or Animal Planet or something.

Rachel had one of those too...

Actually they're like shy macaws in a lot of respects...

With quirks. Like the drumming.

They're definitely NOT very too like...

He does love attention, but will patiently wait for me at the door on the ground of his aviary. It's pretty cute and all the on-lookers love it. We have a routine now where I go in, sit down and he'll climb in my lap for his "neck rub." He is the most calm, docile, reliable bird I've ever known. I swear he doesn't even know how to bite somebody. I took him in for radiographs two weeks ago and they didn't even sedate him, he just laid there!
