There was a woman on FB that would spray something on her TOO . All kinds of colors. She said it just rinsed out and did not hurt him. Wondering if that is what is being done here.

Presently have six Greenwing Macaw (17 yo), Red Fronted Macaw (12 yo), Red Lored Amazon (17 y.o.), Lilac Crowned Amazon (about 43 y.o.) and a Congo African Grey (11 y.o.)
Panama Amazon (1 Y.O.)
Roosting near an industrial place where colored dyes were being used, and came in contact with the spray would be my guess...

No one is going to be doing that to a WILD too... they wouldn't hold still for it, unless possibly you were misting birds with a hose, and a dye attachment of some sort. Even wild birds sometimes like misting.

MY WILD BLUE JAYS WOULD LINE UP ALONG THE FENCE ON HOT DAYS, WHEN MY BIRDS WERE OUTSIDE GETTING MISTED.

That's crazy! I wonder what it is? Mark has a point. Goes to show they're pretty hardy against a bit of chemicals here and there.

Hippies... Got the tie dye thing going on.

Maybe that's it. The hippies left the water in their tie dye tub after doing their Tee Shirts, then the toos came in and took a bath...

Which, actually isn't all that far fetched...

A tub of water is a tub of water, and a bath is a bath no matter what color the water is...

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Truly bizarre. Wonder if there will be an effort to catch a few and test the feathers? Goal should be to determine whether the coloring is man-made or some artifact of nature.

To be precise, I would advocate the safe handling and quick release of any captured Toos!

How odd, to say the least. I hope someone investigates and finds the source, all those pretty colors could be toxic.

My toos were colored red from a toy in their cage after I gave them showers. It scared me at first because I thought there was blood every where and then I saw the red toy. Ugh!

As for holding still while you paint them. I have one who would and if you spray bathe them - just put a little coloring in it and there you have it...a colored too.

It's scarier if it's something that they're ingesting... given the amount they'd have to take in. I really hope that they get to the bottom of it and find out if these 'toos are being harmed.

There's something about those wild colors. I don't know how long they've been seeing the colorful cockatoos but the photos look like they were taken in a park, it could be crepe paper streamers that got wet, cockatoos couldn't resist playing with crepe paper and it's messy when wet.

I reckon it's contaminated water = not good outcome for the birds. Surely the bird/animal protection society should be interested as it is more than like other animals are being affected too?

I have searched and not found another site reporting this. Kinda strange if this Coloring the Too were true it seems it would show up on more news sites . Someone suggested the ones in the pictures were pets and it was kind of a April Fools Joke
