Hi everyone! Finally in our family has a cockatoo Galah.
We named him Sammy :)
Now he is 4 months. Sammy was born July 1, 2016
This is a very tame parrot. He likes to spend time with us.
2 weeks he's learned a few commands: "come to me" and "give paw" (Later send a video)
Now he's not talking, but we want to teach him that.
He eats well. We are now training him to pellets. Not like only apples and bananas. Loves lettuce, pomegranate, pear, and cranberries. The sprouted grain is also eating well :).
Is the cage in which the lives of Sammy

And Sammy
This photo is at 3 months, he lived with the breeder

And it is in the 3.5 - 4 month at home

Allee, plumsmum2005 - Thank you)

I have one question. I want to buy Aviator for my Galah, but I don't know what size I should choose. What size you bought for your Galah?
I will use the harness only in summer in the field, now in Russia winter)
Now we teach Sammy to arrive at hand in the apartment, but i want to fly Sammy more in the summer. Or is it a bad idea?

Fly free Plum, my gorgeous boy.
Hi Plum is scared outside and is constantly checking for birds of prey in the sky. So not bothered with a harness as do not think he would like it. Even if we just take him and cage outside he isn't relaxed.

BUT I do have a Celtei Pak-O-Bird and he loves that, it doesn't help with the flying though unfortunately.

Do you have Hawks flying in your area?

plumsmum2005 No, we don't have hawks in Petersburg.
Nobody in Russia produces in a free-flying parrots. But I see that in America it's very common.

Hello and Welcome to The Parrot Forums!

Love your Photo's and Video!

I have a suggestion regarding the toys for your Sammy. With a young Parrot it is better to start with a softer wood. One of the tests that I use is to use a finger nail and if I can place a dent in the wood surface it is soft enough for a younger (or smaller) Parrot. What I target is trim (paint) grade Pine. It is not uncommon for a Lumber Yard (finished Cut Lumber Source) to have an 'end' cut barrel that they sell for very low cost. You can also start with 'shim' pieces, commonly used to set new doors and windows, also available at the same Lumber Source.

Harder pieces of wood can convince a young Parrot that it is not able to play (make small pieces) with it. Starting with soft wood allows them to play (make small pieces), which is a great thing for a young Parrot.

I hope this translate!

Our Fall has been warmer than normal, which means that our Winter is starting later than normal.
