Relaying an amusing moment from this week ....

We had Plumbers in to fit a new Bathroom which was right over the room Plum resides in. Work started on first day and Plum was a bit whingey.

The next day well he was a PIA, all I got out of him was 'go bubbyes' all morning! :( Didn't really know what he wanted, first it was come out of his cage, have a cuddle, then go back. Few minutes later come out again, bearing in mind there are two guys up/down stairs and in and out of the house all day long he wasn't able to have his usual freedom.

So, after a bit I went up and asked the guys if I could bring him up to meet them and see what was going on? They were happy, so went to collect my pink peril, he looked so delighted to be on Mum's shoulder and on a walkabout. Reached the landing and Plum sat looking into the Bathroom, looking this way and that, really taking it all in. After had a good look round he seemed much happier.

The Plumbers were very amused, one took a picture of him sitting on my shoulder to show his girlfriend and went home to tell her he had his work inspected that day by a parrot LOL. :)

I love the "go bubbye " talk... some parrots do understand words and aren't just "parroting". Maybe you could start a thread in the Behavior forum for people to list words their birds use in proper context? Maybe a research student would find even anecdotal information useful.

Yes I do believe Plum does understand words/phrases. He seems to have adapted the "wanna go bubbyes" to have several meanings though:-

Been naughty and I know it,
Hungry or thirsty,
Had enough out time generally,
Feed me!

He also says "see you later", "what's going on?" and the "What's up with you?" question from him is hilarious. He will also tell himself to "shut up" if making too much noise but that was not my doing!

Plum, Chief Inspector of Plumbing!

Bet the job was done with great attention to detail and ethics. Must have been completely to code before approval was nodded!

Ha ha Scott, to be honest I think he is just pleased to have everything back to normal. Very set in his ways is my Inspector of Plumbing LOL.

Maybe he heard "plumbing" and got concerned about what the men were going to do to him? Hehehe. It's awesome that he was a hit with the plumbers though :D

Hahahaha! Plum was appalled and offended that work had begun without his approval! "Bubbyes", indeed!
