Hello, I've just acquired a Black Palm cockatoo. His size is just like an Blue & Gold minus off the tail or maybe slightly bigger than a Blue & Gold. I'm suppose he's not Goliath?

He has begin to step up on anyone and let anyone to touch him and give him a head scratch.

For now his feather condition is not perfect. Was told that it's because of over-preening by another parrot. For now, I'm bathing him regularly and let him get more sunlight, hope that it will helps his feather condition.

He is currently nameless, so I need you guys to help me and suggest some names for him. He is a male. So do help me out guys!

Do give me some suggestion to improve his feather condition as well.

So here comes the photo of him (Didn't took much photos because I don't wanna stress him out as he's new to the surrounding and stuff.)

And lastly, I'm so glad that I've found him!

Will upload more photos on this thread when I have the time.

Wow, what a beautiful bird..Ebony would be a suggestion for names. Since you got her from a previous owner, wouldn't she already be used to the name he/she gave him? I would be interested to know where you are to get such a beautiful specimen. Best of luck with your new owner!!

Why are you reticent to actually give any information about this BP? We do not get these birds on here very often and they are a great source of interest.

I have a RB2, 'too's have a special place in my heart and I cannot wait for see some more pics of your Black Palm, such a regal bird, ding! How about King as a name?

A new member on here usually puts up some info in the New Members Section. It's a two way street remember.

PS we have some very experienced members on here who would no doubt be very informative to you. A BP is a special bird indeed.

Why don't you make a list of names and try them out on him and let him choose? As for his feathers, it's been my experience that with good food and care, the feathers take care of themselves in time.

After reading the posts, I guess I'll come up with a list of names and let him pick himself.

For his diet wise, he loves nuts a lot. I feed him nuts, fresh food and currently trying to get him to start taking pellets. (He ignored his fresh fruits, vegge and pellets a lot though.)

Surprising he's really tamed. Even the kids can handle him as well and of course under supervision.

Will upload more photos if times allow.

If there's any others BP owner here, do let me know. Thanks!

What his story - do you know anything about life with his past owner(s)? Does he not have a name already or are you switching it?

I don't know anything much about his stories. So there's nothing much I can share with you guys about his past. The only thing is, I bought him over from his ex-owner because his ex-owner is no longer able to keep him. Nope he doesn't.

WOW! What a magnificent bird. I have never seen one, but I've read they have four different sounds and one of them can be heard 100 miles away.
