Sammy has become quite a showman lately but the funny part about it is there is things he will only do while covered and he won't let me watch him doing so I'm missing all the great movement that goes along. when anyone comes over and he knows all our friends and he is covered first off he barks like the dog, then he starts laughing like me,and then whoever is visiting it is so funny then he goes of into loud rants where what I can make out sure sounds like it's got a lot of cus words in to and a lot of fers and m fers. who knows where he may have picked that up but it was something he has been doing ever since we got him. you think he is just shy or trying these things out before he goes public with them. the other day I did catch him laughing like me so I said a laughing battle then and it went back and forth 3 times before he clammed up.

FUNNY! And naughty!

There are things the Rb only says/does in the dark (he's only partially covered at night), but they are stuff he LEARNED in the dark (like for example "It's just me") which I say when I go into his room at night. I regret not using better grammar, but oh well.

I would actually love to hear all of Sammy's rants, but of course, this is a family-friendly place. I admit that I find cursing parrots funny, but thank GAWD the Rb never picked any up. *ahem* But of course he never HEARS such things!!!!

Many birds have degrees of shyness; some won't eat while being watched, will not talk in your presence, etc! Just one of their personality quirks we love so well!!

Amy a Blue Front 'Zon
Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
Dave..I had a Goffin (Jonesy) who had the worse "trucker mouth" I ever heard! " Your !@#$% me! Your !@#$% me!" and he was not shy at all to let anyone hear him :eek:

One time, I was on the phone with the cable tv guy..and Jones started up...the more/louder I talked..the louder Jonesy got..The cable tv dude started to laugh..said "Your kid has a pretty bad mouth!"
I said, my KID?? That's my PARROT! The guy couldn't believe it was a bird..so clear..and LOUD!

As far as shyness...BB the 'tiel, clams up every time I try to get him on camera when he starts talking or doing his rendition of Andy Griffith or the Addams Family...I'll get him one of these days lol.

Thanks for reminding me about The Camera, Jim! Most of my birds have no problem with a cellphone in camera mode pushed into their faces, but one (Goffins) will fly away once it comes outta the pocket! Hilarious to watch them look and display when in selfie mode or while playing back a bird video!
