Lovely women takes in an endangered bird that somehow got it's wing caught in barbed wire and the muscle had died so the vet said the cockatoo wouldn't be able to fly again. Wildlife authorities want to take him away because he's endangered which is reasonable and understandable but if you watch the video the cockatoo has an obvious bond with the women and it would be just devastating to take him away. Their reason is just but I don't really think it'd work in this situation. They want to put the cockatoo in a breeding program to raise the population #s which yet again, is understandable, but I just don't think the cockatoo would be happy like that. It frustrates me that the authorities aren't looking to find a solution instead they just demand the bird to be taken away. There's always a solution. I have a friend in Australia that has a "pet" (not really pet, he's just in my friend's care) red kangaroo which is illegal to have in Australia. He had rescued the kangaroo as a baby after it's mother had been hit by a car. He ended up raising it and the kangaroo got attached to him and would get EXTREMELY aggressive when taken anywhere else such as a wildlife preservation. (Even more so than male red kangaroos usually are) so they hashed out a deal that the kangaroo could stay on my friend's property just every now and again my friend had to bring him to the preservation for breeding. (Not really sure why though since red kangaroos aren't endangered)

TL;DR: Lady befriends injured cockatoo and wildlife reservation isn't looking for a solution so they can stay together.

On the lighter side of things, have a crow video too!

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Thanks for sharing this, hope Bob will remain with Doreen Jones. I added my name to a Change.org petition within the text of comments.

Doreen Jones and Bob have a bond that should never willingly be broken. I understand the rules that protect endangered whildlife but it's so doubtful he would survive in a breeding situation and impossible odds against the bird surviving in the wild. Why do something so pointless and so cruel?

Thank you for posting, I'll sign the petition just in case. It was sweet of you to soften the blue with the spoon stealing crow, hilarious, no more treats, he just needed a spoon.

I tried to find more information but seems nothing new. The change.org petition is still active and needs roughly 300 more signatures to achieve the target.

Bob loooked great where he was too bad they couldn't have found a way to bring him a mate. Looked like they had plenty of birds intheir breeding program. they must not be doing something right.

Doreen Jone's FB page appears to confirm Bob was lost due to a bacteria infection after visiting the Perth Zoo. Tragic and possibly preventable, if they had just left him alone. Terribly sad, now a beautiful innocent bird is gone and the "authorities" have nothing.
