In the Home Stretch.... 1 question tho..

Well my baby Bambam turned 6 months on 2/4. He's FINALLY down to 1 formula feeding a day and is moving from the breeders house to the nursery in the store. She estimated it could be as early as a month when he'll be able to come home. I've been visiting him every Wednesday & Sunday afternoon and now that he'll be at the store I could go 5 days a week if time allows.
I was starting to think he would never wean and now that his homecoming is within reach I'm getting nervous. Trying to get his cage all set up perfectly, making sure he has a ton of toys that I can swap in & out, saving all kinds of bowls, containers etc...that he can play with when out, gathering up his food supplies etc..
I've searched this site for recommendations on air cleaners and I see some discussion but nothing current. Can someone tell me what features I need to have and the things I should avoid when choosing?

BamBam is a quick study- already talking and using his name. I know I'm gonna have my hands full when he comes home but I'm determined to make things as perfect for him as I can.

I see that you are in the Great White North and more than likely have a forced air based heating system. If yes, look at upgrading your air filter in your furnace to the 3" series. As February ends, that industry will be looking for things to keep their staff busy and will likely write you a deal to upgrade you from a standard 1" to a 3" filter. They come in different levels of cleaning the air and you really only needs to get up one or two levels above a base 3" filter. Have them show you how to change-out of the filter and get the part number(s) and buy them yourself at the big box store or hardware store. You will likely have to change them out a minimum of three times per year likely at least four times a year if you also run an air conditioning unit as part of your furnace.

The units recommended as part of the past Posts are pretty much what is out there. Anything that is newer is likely little more than a new plastic box. At the end of the day, it comes down to the filter and how often you change them. A great unit is useless if you do not change the filters!

Your baby is just adorable! I'm so glad you have spent so much time with him while he has been hand-feeding, so much so that he already knows his name and I'm sure has started to or already has bonded with you. That's definitely the way to bring a baby parrot into your family if at all possible.

Sailboat's suggestion of increasing the size of the filter on your furnace is a great one if you have a furnace and your house uses forced air. Definitely take his advice if it applies to your house.

If you're speaking about portable air filters/cleaners that you can move from room to room, I don't know a whole lot about brands or models myself. What I can offer is that you absolutely want to make sure that whatever you buy is bird-safe and contains no PFOA or PTFE, the same as any other appliances and cooking accessories, such as your clothes iron, hair blow dryer, pots and pans, hot plates, Crock-Pot, space heaters, etc. Nothing with Teflon, PFOAs, or PTFEs. Often times the box these appliances come in, the manuals, etc. won't say anything about this, and most likely the salespeople won't know either, so it's best to call the company that manufactures the item and specifically ask them.

Very Cute U2. When I got Justine at Omars birds here in socal, She instantly bonded to me. Every day after work I would go to play with her and hold her. In the beginning she would just lay on her stomach and fall asleep with her wings down or fall asleep with her head resting on my shirt. There is a pic of that on her web site. Every since then she has bonded with my parents and my aunt. Where there are more people over visiting she is usually does not want to come out of the cage. I can pick her up but she would just run to the back of my head and just sit.

She is a little hand full though. Now when we are eating dinner she will just come don the cage and over to the table to join us.. I sometimes give her rice and other foods..
