It has been quite a while since I have been on the forums, I believe it was before we had Monty at home. Well since Monty has been home we added a U2 (Ollie 32yrs. rescue) that he would LOVE to play with, he is such a little clown!

So let me back up a little, we have a rescue B&G, Max (7yrs) & U2, Ollie then Monty who we purchased from a local breeder that is a Ducorp Cockatoo. Monty is coming up on a year old shortly and he loves everyone and doesn't understand why his bird friends don't love him. He is picking up words quickly but not necessarily clearly and not a huge screamer, neither Max nor Monty were till Ollie came along. He is a HUGE clown, loves to play with squeaky dog toys and will literally roll around on the floor with his toys. He is an absolute doll, I would choose a Ducorp again in a heart beat.

We do have things we are still working on like stepping up and eating fruits and veggies.

If anyone has any questions about him, or Ducorps, I would be happy to answer or try to answer. :white1:

Remember to socialize, socialize, socialize. Your younger guys with be passing though the transition to Adulthood and with that comes the hormonal event. Take a look at the Forums for your Parrot to start building an understanding!

Thank you! We really have problems with him trying to pick at any spot on our skin, he just can't sit on your hand and let you pet him. He's like a toddler with ADHD, he is just constantly moving.

Another issue is the stepping up, he just plain refuses no matter what we have tried he will not step up.

All suggestions are appreciated.

My 'Too does that as well, watch your scabs/moles! lol

Most important thing I taught her was pressure training. Took a lot of good bites and bandaids, but she very rarely bites hard enough to break skin now.

For stepping up...I had to teach her that she was going to whether she wanted to or not. Occasionally needed a thick leather glove when I first got her. Now the leather glove is almost completely un-needed, by me anyway. My brother can't always get her to step up, but then again he's never been firm with her about it. Consistency is important, and gotta always remember there's a toddler in that fluff,

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Thanks for the update, glad things are going well.

I have not handled a Ducorps, but they are incredibly beautiful.
