Doe's this guy look healthy?

Sponsored Links
Going to see this bird today and take a closer look, maybe pick him up. I have read that beak and feather is common in young galahs and lack of feather dust with shiny beak/feat is a sign of being positive. From this pic his beak does look a little clean and overgrown? (which also a sign of beak n feather)
BTW he is a western species so the ring around his eyes are bigger and more white they also have paler plumage; crest more full and strongly suffused with pink.

While we're waiting for the cockatoo-ologists to come along...

He looks good to me, beak and all! But trim those nais, right?

Love that pose... shows alertness and curiosity.

What a cutie! I know for sure that if I went to see him, he would be coming home with me.

I don't see anything particularly alarming, but you could always request a vet check at your expense as a condition of sale to be sure!

Beautiful galah. See the vet to get a full picture. His curiousity is a big plus. Sick birds don't really show much interest in anything.

Re: Doe's this guy look healthy?

Spent a couple hours with him today, such a sweet bird and likes absolutely everyone .. also demands head scratches from EVERYONE by putting his head down and seems to NEVER get sick of it! I think he would literally let me pet him all day. I really don't like buying bird's from pet shops as I think it's just too easy for them to be sick, this guy has only been with them for couple weeks and stole my heart so this guy may just be an exeption. Price is very cheap (only good thing about australia) + they will take blood and send for beak and feather and whatever else I want at my expense upon purchase with a money back garantee if he is indeed sick. Uploaded a video of me and him today. I'm sleeping on the decision!

Re: Doe's this guy look healthy?

The first picture of him posing is priceless. Indeed he looks quite attentive and curious...and healthy to me at least. How old is he?

I had one experience with a young galah at my local pet store and he too just demanded head skritches...then climbed my arm to put his head under my chin
But at $3,500.00 USD...ummmm...well...

Ouch, this one is ~$350 and you can find them much cheaper from breeders, like I said cheap galahs = only good thing about australia! Amazons, greys, macaws all cost several thousand here.

3 months old is what I was told but If I go by what I read about the galahs breeding season he would be 6-9months from last season or more if from the season before! He doesn't have much grey on chest also. I mentioned this and was just told those stuff apply to the eastern galah species not this one.I can't find solid info on how much grey baby westerns have or they're breeding season is different but I'm still skeptical about him being 3months old at this point. I do know he is pretty young just by looking at his eye rings though.
