Grieving a loss

I have a favor to ask all you bird lovers. I just lost my beloved cockatoo Molly last night, she's been in my life for the past 15 years. I was wondering if anyone with a pet cockatoo could get an imprint/footprint of the bottom of their birds foot. I would like to get a tattoo in remembrance of her but unfortunately wasn't able to get it from her actual print. Any stamp like or paint prints would do. I appreciate all the help in advanced, thank you.

Yes I am sure we can try? I am so sorry for your loss of Molly. Would it help to tell us a bit about her?

Thank you. I got her was I was in the 6th grade, she was my age at the time. We have grown up together and she would have turned 27 this year. Her vocabulary wasn't the best but listening to her babble about her day once I got home from work was the best.

I know all birds get get a little loud and sometimes annoying when they don't listen. But because of my experience I'd just like to give a little advice...Molly was my partner in life she waited to hear all about my day when i got home. Don't ever leave angry because you never know when something tragic could happen, remind them they are loved every time you leave.

Hopefully we can find a realistic looking print i would be forever grateful. Even if you find one online that would work as well. Thank you in advance I've just yet to have any luck of a realistic picture on the web.

Audrey, I made a donation in Molly's name to Cornell University Vet program, directed to go expressly to parrot related studies. So sorry you lost your Molly.

I am so sorry for your loss of Molly:(

I think you have a wonderful idea. What species of cockatoo was she? We have a very diverse membership here, so it is likely someone on the forum with her species would be able to get you a print in the right size too.

I just googled and didn't find any footprints, but what beautiful birds. I'm so very sorry for your loss.

Hello. Thank you for sharing.
And thank you for giving me a wonderful idea. May I steal it, please? My bird is 33 this year, and I have long searched and wondered about a suitable tat. Nothing ever seemed quite right, but a foot print... wonderful. Intimate, loving, yet so playful.
May I use your idea?

P.S.
Just right up there on the shoulder, as if left by a perching bird, I think...

Ms. 'Enne... that would be perfect, wouldn't it?????
My imagination is running wild...
We love them so much... even their abuse and poop.
This thread really has me sad, and misty, and smiling, all at once.

I had also recently been thinking of this as my next tattoo, although I was thinking a set of tiny footprints running up my arm. I think it's a beautiful idea regardless and a tattoo that is very meaningful.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
My deepest condolences for your loss of Molly. I am sure her loss is especially sad as she grew with you through the formative years.

The largest cockatoo I have that can be handled is a Goffin, far smaller than Molly. May I make a suggestion? If your town has an animal crematory, it may be possible to obtain an image. Most offer a claw imprint in clay that is provided with the urn or cedar chest containing the remains. With an owner's permission, they may allow you to take an image of a suitable imprint.

Yes you may. Could I ask to see a picture of the print you get to use for the tattoo so I can better envision what details will show up on the print of the foot.
