Cockatoo has a cloudy eye

Hello.
Need your urgent help.
There is no avian ophtalmologist in our city, we have exchanged the cockatoo and noticed that he has a problem with one of his eyes. The whole eye is cloudy, I'm not even sure that he can see with this eye.
Has anybody any ideas what is that?

I am not an AV, but that appears to be a cataract. Do you have additional photos from farther away? That would be helpful to see more of the birds head.

How quickly did this develop and how old is your cockatoo? My moms amazon had cataracts. He started developing his later in life and they started as tiny white specks that grew over the course of years (much like they would in humans). If that is indeed a cataract, it covers the whole eye and no, he likely cannot see anything more than light out of that eye. Please approach slowly from that side and let him know you're coming since he can't see you out of that eye. If your bird is younger and/or this developed rapidly (days/weeks/months) I would start searching now to find an avian vet who can do further testing. Cataracts in young animals can be a symptom of metabolic and other disorders, where in older animals they tend to just be part of the natural aging process. I wouldn't necessarily say a cataract is an emergency if it developed slowly in an older bird, but if your bird is young and/or this developed quickly, it is urgent you find and make arrangements to see an avian vet (even if they are hours away, make the trip!) ASAP.

The cockatoo is young. Unfortunately I do not have the other pic now.
I was searching about cataract and saw pics of birds with this illness. Their eyes are cloudy, but not so much, they are cloudy only in the center, and my bird has the whole eye cloudy..
I'm looking for the vet, but no result

Where do you live? Someone on the forum may know of an avian vet in your area.

That would be a pretty severe cataract as it covers the entire eye, but they can grow that large. A cataract is not a disease in and of itself, but can be an outward symptom of a disease, but can also form due to an injury or general aging. In a young bird, injury or illness would be the causes and the bird needs to see an avian vet.

For comparison, is there any abnormality with the other eye? Perfectly normal appearance or any hint of a similar issue?
