Rocky likes to burrow into my hoodie, and I drape an old towel over a perch on top of his cage to make a tent, which he likes, too. I have looked and looked for happy hut-type thing like they make for small parrots, but nobody seems to make one big enough for an umbrella 'too. I have looked at hideys made for rabbits and guinea pigs as an alternative. Does anyone else have a U2 who likes to hide out, and what do you use for yours?

The Rb (plus tail) is a good 19 inches long, so he would LOVE a big hut, BUTTTTTT, he's such a hormonal little rooster that I don't dare let him have hideouts! Gets him too in-the-moooood!

I would stick away from the typical happy huts just due to how many birds they kill

the best ones I have seen (though don't know if they go to Too sizes) are called "Chubes" in essence they're very big thick cardboard tubes. They're dirt cheap and very safe as they're a chewable material so crop impaction is extremely unlikely.

Could you cover half of Rocky's cage? Plum has his breakfast and then asks for his covers to go back on, this is private playing; all his toys swinging like mad and resting time LOL. Hoping this would suffice but not bring on any additional hormonal problems.

He just yanks the cage cover off, dumps it on the floor and poops on it. The towel doesn't stay put unless he wants it to. I have to leave and go to work so it needs to be something he can't undo and that's why I was looking at chewable huts and things. They make bunny tunnels out of chewable stuff but none of those seems to be big enough for a giant white toddler.

How about making a wooden one and then you could attach sheeting flaps on the ends to make it a happy hut. If not too heavy it could be attached to the cage? As its wood he could chew it to keep him occupied. Know anyone good with wood?

Only other thing is keep looking in pet stores for large cardboard tubes.

Hubby's a carpenter. I could ask him if he'd make some sort of teepee thing for Rocky.
