Umbrella Cockatoo- 15? years old..I think?
My 10 year old U2 NEVER bites me..at least, almost never...
Probably once every 4 months (if that, and those aren't hard).
I had to leave her with my parents to attend a wedding for 3 days and she knows them...she even has a duplicate cage at their home LOL.
Anyway, when I came home last night, she RANTED.....(like a crazy person at a bus-stop) for a full 20 minutes NON-STOP and then, after I held her and put her down, she started lunging at me (granted, it was past her bedtime and I knew she was already mad at me for leaving).

Today, she was super loving and happy to see me, and then, when I told her I had to "go return the car" she lost her ever-loving mind haha. OY---here is my arm. This was achieved through a sweater sleeve. She is over it now (or so it seems) but this is the most angry she has ever been over a trip....I was shocked at her behavior today, and I took it (no reaction) because I have found that even a firm "no" can add fuel to the fire. DANG though...Good thing I lover her so much, or she would have had bigger problems ha. Anyway, I am glad that she is generally very nice----this certainly is a good reminder of how birds can "turn on a dime" though!!!!!!!!! THESE PICTURES WERE TAKEN OVER 10 HOURS AFTER THE BITES!

She is still my baby :)
Just thought people should see what she is capable of when NOT trying her hardest lol

Japie (m) & Appie (f), both are congo african grey;
All are rescues- had to leave their previous homes for 'reasons', are still in contact with them :)
Good thread - yes the cuddly ones have this nutcracker and are not afraid to use it.

I am glad she did not break the skin as well Noodles.
For a too she still held back.

You are a great person for not taking it too personally- most of it is just blowing of steam to be reunited with you, and knowing you were about to leave again.

A great reminder that parrots are just bundles of emotions with feathers some of the time.

(I always wondered if the idea of Tinkerbell -the J.M. Barrie one- was based on a too (or any other parrot) the magick-dust kind of points to the too-family though ;) )

Aw, c'mon those were just some 'love pinches':16:

That definitely looks painful. The marks are huge! Glad that giant beak didn't break skin. The worst of the worst bites I've ever got were from a tiny little goffins cockatoo. I would not like to repeat the experience with an even larger beak!

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Painful indeed, and Noodles certainly used restraint! Hope you heal quickly!

Lol to all of the above----She has drawn blood on numerous occasions over the years, but this incident shocked me because of her anger! She was P*SSED OFF lol (not scared)...Just like, "HOW DARE YOU LEAVE ME!!!!"
She isn't totally over it either---I thought she was, but we had a power struggle this morning. I have NEVER had to towel her, and I tried this morning because she wouldn't step up and threatened to bite when I tried (SOOOO UNLIKE HER..but I had to get to work and she couldn't stay out)---Anyway, fast-forward 5 minutes: after she bit the heck out of the towel (and I failed at removing her talons from the cage top lol)--immediately following this confrontation, she came towards me, rubbed her head against me chest and stared up at me lovingly....and then stepped up voluntarily. LOL what the heck....She is crazy and lovable...Maybe she is into that sort of thing LOL! Weirdo...

My goodness. I cannot even imagine how painful that is. I got taste-tested by my adult female Tegu (a approx. 4 foot lizard from S. America) and I thought that was painful (she left a scar) but this looks like it'd hurt even worse. My little conure bites hard... good gravy.
