Umbrella Cockatoo- 15? years old..I think?
I have a travel cage that my bird tolerates, but she cannot sleep in it, which means I have had to purchase duplicates of her home cage for places I go often..and it is like 80lbs and doesn't fit in a car...

I have an umbrella cockatoo.

Are there any cages out there that would be more portable/collapsible than her home cage? I want to still transport her in the travel cage, and then transfer her to a larger cage for sleep and general day-to-day activities. The portable cage needs to be semi-easy to assemble and it must fit in a car. The bars don't have to be SUPER thick, as , so far, her Prevue Hendrix travel cage suits her fine and she doesn't chew the bars. I am more concerned that she might accidentally ingest paint or something but even that is unlikely based on her habits.

You might look at the folding dog crates. Just make sure the brand you purchase uses nontoxic powder coat or buy stainless.

Cairo the Ekkie!
Cairo came to us with this as his 'main' cage: https://www.facebook.com/commerce/products/1176333135803258/. It is quite small as a regular day cage; luckily, now that he's with us, his main cage is our entire bedroom, so he only uses this cage at most for sleeping or eating. Even then, we're thinking of switching him to sleeping on his corner perch near our bed (since he seems to prefer napping outside next to us) and to eating in a Seedmate (fresh chop being flung across the room is terrible to clean up).

The cage is easy to disassemble - it separates into three main metal parts (two sides hinged and the top) and the bottom plastic part with tray and grill. The fact that the sides are hinged/connected, makes it quite compact when separated. In fact, I regularly clean it by taking it apart, scrubbing/washing the individual sections down, then sunning them.

It fits a rope perch, a pedi-perch, and a toy - any more things and it would get crowded. And it fits, disassembled, in the trunk/boot of a sedan car just fine.

That being said, it's not ideal for an ekkie or a cockatoo, but in a pinch, it might work as a portable overnight cage. I'll keep looking to see if I can find an American option.

P.S. Just a note, if you get this cage, be sure to use something else to lock the top opening. Cairo once unlocked the built-in hook and got his head stuck in between the two doors; fortunately, my partner works from home, and Cairo's screaming alerted my partner to rescue him from breaking his neck.

Exactly what I was going to suggest, just go to Walmart, Tractor Supply, etc. and buy a large/extra-large dog-crate that is collapsible and made to be folded-up and mobile. You can set it up just like her regular main-cage, just buy a few clamp-on/screw-on perches that have the really large washers/wingnuts so that you can attach them to the bars of the dog-crate, and obviously you can hang any type of bird-toys normally, and you can also easily attach any type of stainless-steel bird food/water dishes to the dog-crate bars as well.

I set-up a size large dog-crate from Walmart as my Ringneck Dove's main-cage, obviously it's massive for him, but he loves it. I have several different types of perches clamped/screwed onto it throughout (wooden, cement, etc.), as well as tons of toys, dishes, crocks, etc. It cost me $80 at Walmart, and most-importantly it's black but it's not powder-coated or coated with anything that a bird can chew-off or eat. I actually liked it so much that I also bought a size-small one of the same brand from Walmart for $30 to take my Dove in the car with me, to the vet or wherever. They easily fold right up with no issue, and they all have a sliding plastic tray that you can simply put newspaper down on, and then just slide right out without opening up the cage door to change/clean. I love them. Walmart has 3 sizes: small, medium, and large, and I think they go $30, $60, and $80, and the large one will be huge even for an Umbrella Cockatoo. It's massively large!

FYI, the brand of dog-crate that Walmart sells for the above prices is exactly the same brand/model/size crate that is sold at Petco (I looked at Walmart, Petco, and Tractor Supply, and all 3 had the exact same brand and sizes), and the size large one that costs $80 at Walmart costs $90 at Tractor Supply and $139 at Petco...

Do I need to worry about the coating though? What if she chews the bars--normally she doesn't but sometimes she hangs/bobs around on them and I don't want her ingesting stuff that isn't safe.

You think that would be okay?
