Dex-6yr old F HR cockatiel
Dee-Dee-6yr old wild-tamed F cockatiel
Charlie- 18mnth old U2 rehomed
Hey Everyone
I joined the forum last week, having just made the decision to "adopt" Charlie, a beautiful, big, loud, and mischievous 18 month old U2. Well, let me say- its been quite a week. I don't even think so much preparation went into the arrival of my "real" babies! LOL! The family is collecting toys and adding them to Charlies "toy box" so he'll have lots of pressies waiting for him at home. We have been visiting him every day and he is getting cuter each time! Yesterday he sat on my sons arm for the first time, didn't attempt to get on to his shoulder (still a bit wary of him getting near faces, even though i have been told, and seen, that he loves children!), and just took a nice cuddle from him while laying his head softly on my sons chest. He is trying so hard to talk, although few words are recognizable he always looks me straight in the eyes and carries on a heavy conversation like he is catching me up on all his news! LOL! I just nod and answer, that seems to satisfy him
I am itching to bring him home already, but we have made plans to go away for the weekend of the 1st Jan, and although we could take him with, I dont feel this will be fair to him or that he would have had sufficient time to settle in to our home and routine- so I wait....its hard. lol
On another note, I have a pure white cockatiel who has a red calcium stick that she chews on (apparently all natural non-harmful food dye as found in prawn and beetle shells!!) that has turned her pink! Has anyone ever seen this before? So many people have asked me where I got a pink cockatiel from and I answer- she is VERY rare- one of a kind really- so she is PRICELESS!
