What could be wrong with Angel

Ok here is my problem.. I got Angel about 2 weeks ago and she has been very active very vocal and very entertaining..
On Saturday we had to take her to the groomer to get her feet and beak trimmed. Her feet were extremely long and her beak looked like it had never been trimmed as we were told by the groomer.
Well to start with we had a bit of trouble getting her to go in the pet taxi.. She refused so we used a towel and took her gently and put her in the cage it took us a while to get this accomplished as we did not want to traumatize her..
After we returned home she developed a bit of diarrhea and she just sat and shook in her cage so I figured she was still scared by this experience.. That was on Saturday well as of today Tuesday she is still not very active she sleeps alot way more than when we first got her.. The diarrhea has cleared up but she still quivers in her cage and is very very quiet.. She is eating fine and drinking fine as well
He was very gentle over there as were we in getting her over there..
I just do not understand what could be wrong? I have not been to the aviary vet as yet and when I called to see if we could bring her in they said it would have to be after Christmas as the vet was gone on vacation.. So I am not certain what is going on if this is normal any help would greatly be appreciated..

Welcome to the forum, I am sorry it's not under nicer circumstances.

I'm afraid I can't personally help but I know there are people on this forum who can.

It does sound like she isn't happy at all lol. Perhaps she had a traumatising experience with a groomer/towel/both at her previous home? Can I ask why her beak was clipped....? It's just usually, unless there's been a crack or a deformation, birds take care of them themselves.....if there was nothing wrong with it, maybe that's why she is so sad?

It's great you've made an appointment for the AV and also good news that her poop is normal again.

Is there any way you can contact the people who cared for her prior to yourself? They should have a good indication of her "sulking" period! People have gone on holiday for a week and for a fortnight after their return, their birds are STILL sulking and moody - it's really not uncommon!!

I hope someone else can chip in with a better answer for you, best of luck.

Did you tell them you have a sick bird? Hope you can find an avain vet willing to check your bird.

When I spoke to the tech at the vet clinic they said it could be that she is sulking.. They didn't seem to concerned when I told them she is eating and drinking fine and her breathing seemed normal she takes her treats etc.. She will talk some but nothing like she was before we took her over there. She is just very very quiet and not very active like she was.. I am really worried I don't want her sad. We have all kinds of toys and things for her to do she just seems uninterested.. She just sits quietly and if you turn on the light she shakes any sudden moves she shakes.. Breathing seems normal
When we got her from those people they told me I needed to get her beak trimmed as it was to long for her to eat normally ( you know as I am learning about all this I am first finding my instincts to be the best advice) I have had tiels and bungies and never heard of trimming the beak but even the guy I took her too said she needed it trimmed and he has had birds for 50 years and is very good with them etc.. Her feet were defiantly to long they were like little needles..
What would you do in my case since I can't see the vet until after Christmas? Does this all seem normal to you more experienced handlers?
I just want my happy little baby back again..

Thank you all so very much for your help.

So...the previous owners DID clip her beak....?

If not, I suppose she could just be traumatised....if you've only had her a fortnight and obviously, she needed to have her nails done etc....Angel won't see it that way. I should imagine she's thinking: You were so nice! Why did you DO that?!

Obviously, as you made the whole thing as stress free as possible then you couldn't have handled it any better!! It sounds like perhaps you need to build up trust with her again but in all honesty, if it was my girl, I'd still want an AV check asap. Just to be on the safe side. Even if it means that you go to another avian vets, it'll put your mind at ease and IF this just coincided with an illness that's beginning to show itself now, she will be able to get the help she needs to be well again.

Speed is the key to birdy illnesses and a false alarm is much more preferable to heartache.
