Extra squawky and needy

It's the wrong time of year, but I suspect Rocky's having hormones or getting ready to. He's really squawky and needy and unless somebody is right there with him, he shrieks. Sometimes even if somebody is, and the somebody isn't me. He's also getting ready to molt. YIKES.

I would not be surprised...

same here: the moment we have to start using lots of lamps instead of sunlight (the human needs to function ...) the greys go straight back into 'summerloving'

I have, at long last, succeeded in convincing him to go to bed at a reasonable (for birds) hour. He was insisting on staying up until we went to bed, which is too late for a birdie. The other birds go to bed by 9 and Rocky was staying up until 10:30 or later. Hubby had night shift for a couple of weeks recently, and with just me there, I could tuck Rocky in, turn off the TV and go hide in another room with a book until I wanted to go to sleep. He got into the habit of going to bed at 9:30 and now even with Hubby around in the evenings again, I can tuck him in with only a little fuss at 9:30. His cage is in the living room, while the others are in a bird room at the back of the house, where I can turn off their lights and they have dark and quiet. That was part of the issue getting him to go to bed. I hope that the earlier bedtime will help keep him from being too grouchy.

You and me both, sister. Cairo is mid-molt (I think), and the moment one of us is out of his sight for more than 15 seconds, he started ekkie-calling us back.

Am hoping it's not his puberty finally coming - don't want him to grow up so fast! So yep, we're making him go to bed on time and trying to let him sleep in as long as possible.

I started putting Rocky to bed at 9:30, an hour earlier than he was used to. Then I inched it back to 9:15. I'm going for 9 p.m., which is the other birds' bedtime. He's still screaming any time I'm out of his sight and that's just not workable. I have to take care of the other birds and spend time with them, and there are things I have to do that I can't do with Rocky on my arm. He has to get over this.

Going off the OP, Willow has been the same for the last few weeks. My schedule changed a month ago or so, which has actually led to her having LESS time in the cage and earlier bed times.
