Hi everyone!

I have been thinking about rescuing an umbrella cockatoo and I was wondering how long a 20-pound bag of food usually lasts?

Thanks!

If it is a good quality food, only a few months! Unless you dedicate a freezer, it will spoil! I have only 2 little GCC darlings, and I buy bulk, but I buy in a variety of foods! So, example, I just went shopping and total, 19 lbs of dry goods! Enough for two years! All of it is in the freezer! My price and quality of product outweighs any loss! A perfect example, Zupreem fruity, bulk, has an incredible fruit smell, Petco, 3lb bag? Meh! Cost, Petco 3lb bag, $16,, bulk, 5 lbs, $9! I would not invest in a 50lb lot! If I bought you survival rations, you wanna eat that for the next 5 years?
I buy Zupreem fruity, natural, Roudybush, and TOP’s!

Where do you buy bulk? That sounds a lot more convenient, and I am also trying to cut down on waste so I love bulk options that I can bring my own containers for. But yes, I meant to say 20 pounds, not 50, I edited it sorry about that. I was also looking into the Zupreem foods they seem good quality.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
A huge variable is how much food is wasted! My flock is terribly wasteful; take a bite from a pellet, drop the remainder. Pick up another, rinse and repeat!

Eat one fling three seems to be the norm here. She’s not a cockatoo, but I don’t think this is species-specific behavior.
