The most obnoxious sound I've ever heard

Sydney used to belong to a tow truck driver who took him to work with him on a regular basis. The tow truck driver was the person who dumped him on the woman who reached out to me for help. So imagine the sound of a flat bed tow truck with bad hydraulics. Then imagine an umbrella cockatoo mimicking that at top cockatoo volume.

Let's just say I'm really glad my neighbors are bird people. And he should be really glad he's so sweet and cute. I'm basically immune to parrot noise, but this is like nothing I've ever heard before.

'Toos excel at making sounds that set your teeth on edge. LOL Rocky has a certain note he hits when he's demanding attention that makes me want to scream, a sort of hoarse shriek that literally makes my eardrums vibrate.

I have another U2, and this sound is still so far and above anything Frankie does on the obnoxious scale. I am really quite impressed.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
I can only imagine, hope he replaces the obnoxious hydraulics noises with something more pleasant! Hang out at Liberty Station Food Hall and Sydney might imitate the roar of departing airliners!

The sad thing is, I didn't even have to look at the subform and I knew instantly by the title it *had* to be a cockatoo making the "most annoying sound ever":33::white1:

I'm so sorry for your ears that Sydney is imitating a tow truck on maximum volume:eek:. That truly sucks. I hope you can teach him a more pleasant noise to make instead. That, or invest in some good ear plugs:D

The house is 4200 square feet, so we have an escape if we need it. :D

My parents house is over 3000 sq ft. There is no escape from their cockatoo lol. I can hear him, through the phone when my mom is hiding on the opposite end of the house. And he's a tiny goffins.

We do okay. There's nowhere in the house where you can't hear them, but there are places where the noise is tolerable. I tend to go outside when I need to make a phone call to spare the ears of the person on the other end of the phone.

The first time I took my cag Nikki into the bathroom I got a total shock when she made the identical sound of a large truck backing up when they use the beepers. I actually said to her I haven't gained that much!!

I shouldn't laugh, but I'm giggling at this.

On the other hand, this may be the weird beep-like squeal he also does, but not quite so grating as the bad hydraulics squeal.

Callum likes to laugh or scream when I'm on the phone. My friends and family are so used to him, that they'll just laugh with him.

Some, the few who don't know I have a bird, are like "What was that?!"

"Oh, that was Callum. He does that sometimes."

I was on the phone with a Verizon rep some time ago and he got a kick out of the bird antics in the background. Apparently his grandparents kept birds.

That's so cute, my birb likes to mimic other sounds too, if they're repetitive. I managed to work that my way by singing to her and I feel like she's catching up and actually beginning to sing along! :D
