So much for the new slippers

I've had a Quaker parrot for 11 years and have long since learned what is and is not allowed around him. No jewelry. No red clothes. No clothes with decorations (like sequins or buttons). No hats. I have to keep my glasses on; can't even take them off to wipe off a smudge.

Rocky, until now, has been unconcerned with what I was wearing. He's not a fan of shoes if you're taking them off or putting them on, but if they're already on, he doesn't care what they are. However, I got some new slippers that have alpaca faces on the toes. Like bunny slippers but with alpacas. I put them on the other night and he went berserk. I don't know if he thought I had real animals (they're not THAT realistic) or what, but he wanted to attack. I LIKE those slippers but apparently I am not going to be allowed to wear them. Last year's slippers are worn out. I only wear slippers in winter. So I guess I have to go out and get some plain ones that won't set Rocky off, or not wear slippers this winter.

I tried explaining to him that they are toys. Like the plush toys he and our dog share (they steal each other's toys). No dice. He clambered down off his cage and ran for my feet and I barely scooped him up in time, and then he bit ME. So I put them away out of his sight and I guess I'll just have chilly feet this year. LOL

That's so funny, I got slippers with big plush heads on them (Cartman from South Park), the intent was that I'd have some plush protecting my feet if Jacob wanted to bite my toes with I have my feet up on the ottoman while he's on me. My husband plays ball with him on my little ottoman he gets excited and bites my toes sometimes, he never hurt me but it's scary.

Well my plan backfired, the Cartman slippers just got him insanely excited as to him they were new toys to destroy and toss. He was charging at them and biting them so hard. I was lucky he didn't hurt my toes but I was feeling the beak get so close. I was laughing so hard because of my terrible idea and kinda doing the squeal-screaming at the same time as I feared for my toes. I finally got both feet off the ottoman and have never worn those slippers around Jacob since. Nowadays I just move my feet off the ottoman right away when Jacob is playing. lol

Perhaps a pair of these would be more to Rockys liking?

Parrots are so funny with their very strong opinions on what we can and cannot wear. The other day, I was wearing a huge respirator mask and goggles because I was making homemade laundry soap (which is a dusty process). I came inside for a second and walked right past Kiwis cage and barely got a second glance. But should I *dare* remove my glasses for even a second and he goes into instant amazon death mode:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I couldn't walk in those parrot feet slippers, but it would be fun to have some. LOL Last night I just went around in my socks and that seemed to be acceptable.

I already messaged them but I think they are from the UK so it would probably be too pricey for me as i'm in Canada.

I think it wasn't the slippers, per se, after all. It was that there was something new and different on my feet. I wore my cowboy boots yesterday, which I hadn't had on all summer, and got the same reaction. He wouldn't settle down til I went and changed back to my sneakers.

OMG those slippers are so dang funny! Glasses set Amy off ( he tries to remove them from my face) and they both don't like ball caps, but that's ok coz I don't wear them :)
